They are a really neat design solution, but you’re not going to be able to under something that’s low.

Remember in Dave's case, the axel stands are to protect the underside of the car from damage if it drops on him...

That occured to me too, but although I did once have access to my dad's arc welder - I gave it to Flewy.
Could probably make up a set at 250mm, 325mm, and 400mm that would probably cover almost every job.

Being soft and squidgy means very little damage is done.
