i would expect most competent body shops could graft in a different grill!

I expect most people will just buy an A5, C Coupe, etc instead.
The C Coupe is a great looking car. Quite a compelling replacement option for the M240i....once I have a job again!

Maybe I'll retract my statement actually...
Well, that's all folks!

It really does get worse the more you see it, it's even got the ugly pinched headlights from the first of the second gen 1 series.

Yeah with most people leasing they’re not gonna chop up the car, although how well it sells depends on those deals. I think the used market will be interesting in a couple years time as the depreciation should be quite something. That’s when the aftermarket companies need to step up so I can buy the upcoming M4 for £10,000 and stick a new bumper on

if there’s any available 2nd hand! Someone needs to buy the new ones for that to happen!

A UK number plate through the middle of that grill will take the edge off it a bit, but that is... challenging.

But then so was the E60 when it first came out.

I now there’s rules about the font and stuff, but could you go up a couple of sizes on the number plate to balance it out a bit?

There's no restriction on max size of the plate, only the numbers. So you could manage it a bit.

Fit a plate the full width of the grille, colour code the ends, put a chrome strip along the top, black out the chrome bits on the grille underneath the plate.

Might look a bit less shite...

E60 was a bit challenging, but really it was only some slightly swoopy headlights and a weird boot line. Still seen by many as the ugliest 5 series.

E65 was propped hopping too, got a swift facelift before going back to a much more conventional design on the next one.

I couldn’t resist having a play. This is 5 minutes using Microsoft PowerPoint (hence it’s a bit crude). Same top and bottom shapes, just mercifully smaller.

Or we could just do Tim’s suggestion.

You should have seen the proposed 1 series before I fired up powerpoint and contacted Bmw!

It does a bit - though a sleeker, more streamlined version... perfect!

I reckon you’ve inadvertently created the new 2 series? That is if they keep the smaller grill which I think they may as the big grill is meant to equate to the luxury of the higher series cars?

That’s smart, I like that. You should go and make retro fit bumpers just like that
