Yeah, I appreciate that's a completely incorrect use of the word tbh - tbf to me I saw it referenced that way by a virologist! They were discussing how it would become one of 4 (IIRC) "endemic" viruses, which includes the cold and flu viruses, in constant circulation around the globe.

I knew what they meant :D

I get ya, like "not an epidemic". One of those diseases that is constantly present rather than one that's massively increasing in an area.

And there's the +ve PCR. Isolating until end of Boxing Day :(
She's feeling ok with it though, which is the main thing, and Dad is feeling fine too.

This variant does seem fairly crazy. I didn't know anyone in the first wave, only 1 in the second wave, and maybe 3-4 in the third with covid. This time round, I know about 20 who've had/have it.

None have had any serious problems though thankfully.

I think it's all Delta? Track & trace said they'd get back to us a further time if it came back as Omicron Persei 8. Only positive for us is that hopefully we'll be protected from the latter if there is a big wave of it.

TBF I wasn't all that well yesterday. Mostly shitty bum-bum/hurricane stomach, along with general fatigue/aches. And weirdly all 4 of us have felt like we'd mistakenly poked ourselves in one eye and caused some damage. Exercise performance is a bit off the norm.

Same here Rich.

Just had my booster at the Open University in Milton Keynes. Moderna this time. Very slick process. They stopped letting people join the Walk in queue while I was there when the queue wait hit 2 hours. Glad I had an appointment

According to the Zoe app the NW is running at c40% estimated cases being Omicron. I don't know of anyone that's ad the variant type confirmed back to them.

As Rich has said, I didn't know anyone that got it 1st wave, a few that got it 2nd etc, but now I know tons of people that have it or have had it v recently. I reckon the bulk of the cases must be Omicron tbh.

ANd if you had the Delta variant, that won't necessarily protect you from Omicron. It's evading immunity, and that includes in the previously infected.

If you just want to rail against the world, feel free. Not sure why you're so keen to do it about COVID rather than people who don't pick up their dog's poo or the plastic bag fee in supermarkets or the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre.
I have to say, I’m dead against it.
People forget that traders need access to Dixons.
Oooohh Rich, you know your onions!

Had a booster booked for Malvern today but heard about a walk in centre last night. Ten minute wait. Slightly sore arm but no other issue (Pfizer booster, two previous AZ).

I am getting a bit more cautious with mixing at the moment as I’m off up to parents on the 23rd, they’re early 70s and in good health but still.. so cancelled a couple of things that would involve being in large groups of people.

Took the wifey for her booster. They were super fast. Had barely confirmed her name before they stuck a needle in her arm. And no 15 minute wait after... They were practically pushing her out the door. Reckon they're getting close to a million a day now.

My booster was yesterday, no check who I was I just said my surname and got the injection.

Probably a few hundred a day at the small chemist.

I think they will hit their target, a massive change in numbers from before.

More talk of impending restrictions, either before or after Christmas.

Apart from any retail/hospitality that's closed that I obviously won't be able to go into anyway, I won't be abiding by any new rules restricting my social contact. Apart from the lack of moral authority the government now has on the issue, it remains fact that lockdowns are about 'protecting the NHS', but it's still mostly the unvaxed who end up in hospital. So why should I have my freedoms restricted because some people won't protect themselves?

We need a lockdown of the unvaccinated. If you aren't vaxxed then no access to unnecessary retail, hospitality, no indoor mixing etc. Random spot checks and strict penalties on establishments that don't enforce the passports.

Screw the unvaxxed and let the rest of society carry on as normal.

Maybe this wave will wipe out most the unvaxxed so that we can get on with normality in subsequent years…
How about not having a sig at all?

Yesterday lunch my arm was pretty sore, then I was aching and finally my body felt like it was recovering from pins and needles. Was in bed early and had nearly a 13 hour sleep and feel fine again.

First reaction to any vaccination at all.

Was that Moderna Dave??

I had Moderna on Friday and my arm is still sore and tender. I was knackered yesterday but I did stay up to 03:30am on Friday night watching the Warriors V Celtics NBA

We’ve had our first Christmas Casualty today. Father in Law has decided not to travel. There’s been a few cases in his Sheltered Accommodation and despite negative tests, he doesn't want to risk his grandkids. Shame really. I was looking forward to him comming. All his kids and grandkids together for the first time :|

It's a terrible thought to have, but this whole virus thing could result in an overall increase of the average IQ when all settles down...

Just over 900k boosters yesterday. 26m people to go, 13 days to do it in means Boris does need to hit 2m boosters a day to meet the impossible target.

Of course it’ll only be a blame game on 1 Jan when there are still 15m or so waiting for a booster.

Or possibly, 5 million+ fewer waiting than if he didn’t set the target??

Although there are only 20m people who've had a second dose more than who've had a booster, so it needs to go to about 1.5m a day to get them all boosted.

Quite true, Dinny - but if he’d just ramped up boosters rather than setting an impossible target that would have had the same effect without being more bullshit.

Oh yes, he’s Boris so we expect to be lied to. By our own PM. 🙄
