MrsREV works in a college doing student support (like a TA for 18 year olds), normally 3 days a week. She now has to do 1 day a week even though all of her students are off.

Good luck.
This, to everyone whether you’re self-employed, contractor or permie.
Very much this!! Really worrying times for many people.
Indeed. Anyone who lives on a tight food budget at the moment will be having 'fun' in the supermarkets, for a start.
CEO came in today with his son. Gave his son a bollocking for interacting with us, because they're supposed to be socially isolating - his son pointed out the flawed logic to him...
CEO then revealed that 'the girl he had over the other night' had Corona.
The entire office, you could hear a pin drop.
then a dozen hands slapping foreheads....

I work from home unless I'm away so I'm not missing going into an office as such, my WFH peace is to be potentially shattered as my wife is a teacher so will be at home now, but still teaching lessons online from what I can gather. And our three year old will be at home as his pre school is shutting.
Bad times ahead for many, stay safe everyone, hope no one here experiences too much pain due to all this.
I wish my grandparents would stay the fuck in, they've been to the pub 3 times this week already, they won't listen to any of us about it either seemingly.

The college said today they wanted to keep me on so I'm teaching from home via whatever means possible from next week.

My stepmother has a lung condition. She's had part of one lung removed due to it. Yesterday she went to the supermarket and the hairdressers.......

Old people are stubborn d1cks aren't they?
My dad sees it as an affront to his freedom that as a 70yr old he's being told to extreme social distance - "we're fit and eat healthy - we'll just keep clear of anyone that looks a bit ill" This despite the fact that every time they do get a cold it knackers both their chests for weeks.

Show the old cunts this? I thought it was pretty good. I realise they won't pay a blind bit of notice of course.

Did you drive her? Pay back?
My best mate returned to Spain today after being here for a week looking after his mum who had a heart attack. She was walking round a supermarket yesterday with her new pacemaker fitted 4 days before.
Saying this I'm not sure my mates are home yet as the first plane had technical issues and the next 8 people on it.

- My sister is a teaching assistant at the school her kids are at, her husband isn’t a keyworker. So she’ll be going to school and her kids won’t!
Interestingly, my niece and nephew, as children of a key worker (my sister-in-law-come-deputy-head) they had a choice of whether to continue to go to school or not. Surprisingly, they chose to stay at home. (BTW, they don't go to school where she works).
So I told them this evening that part of the emergency coronavirus legislation was that all children who stayed home at this time had to wear their school uniform during school hours.. The wife is in on it too. I'm gonna see how long we can keep up the ruse.

That was good - thanks Chris

It’s hard to spot the absence of something but reading the last page of this thread makes me realise I’ve not heard aircraft from Gloucestershire airport despite being at home. It’s not an airport with scheduled passenger flights so I’m not sure what this tells us, though.

I find it really hard to sleep when there’s not much background noise - it gets to a point where I get conscious of my own breathing and heartbeat and it drives me nuts.
I now have the AC on at night in the living room so that it gives a gentle hum.

I'm the same. I call it a 'deafening silence'. So the MacBook usually comes to bed with me and I'll watch something on Netflix to drift off to sleep to. It has to be something I've seen before thought, otherwise my brain listens to it too carefully.
Like that is going to help anything - supermarkets are still stripped bare. Thick twats.
My local Turkish and Sri Lankan shop are fully stocked and are wondering what the fuss is about.

I live slap bang in the middle of Salisbury plain, surrounded by Army. No obvious mass movement here (in fact, I can hear tanks now on maneuvers still) and there's no gossip from the Army wives. Chances of them keeping quiet are zero.
I suspect it will only be central London on lockdown first. Rest of the country will follow after.
Are you used to being on lockdown and isolated anyway, the village open once a year for people to visit the church?
Good news? That's just subtly letting us know lockdown is on the way, delivery is the only we'll get anything, and things will be rationed.
Interest rate now at 0.1%, a food bank has had to close after being burgled, etc etc etc.

Genius! wish I'd thought of that. Ours are hopefully going to be good although karate training been canned means they'll have extra energy
School my Mrs works at is planning to run longer shifts to cover key services' children and will be running through Easter break too.
