Currently in a queue at a walk-in centre. Got here an hour before they opened and an number 3 in line.

I had my booster yesterday and for the first time had a bit of a painful arm overnight.

I know a few people who were planning on “leaving it till after Christmas”

It’s certainly ambitious
It's not just ambitious - it's impossible. You can't have it within 28days of a +ve test so there'll be millions that mean its impossible.

And if it's so mild, as seems to be the evidence so far, what's this panic about?

Mild for normies, but still risky for the elderly and vulnerable I'd expect.

It’s because it’s more transmissable and then those who will end up in hospital will all end up in at once

I think the evidence that two AZ jabs provides close to zero protection from Omicron is the reason for the rush. But Boris announced that all over 40s would be jabbed nearly 4 weeks ago, and the NHS booking system wouldn't allow you to book until last week so this is going to be a disorganised shitshow again. Which is hardly a surprise since it's Boris.

There's no evidence so far to suggest that's the case AFAIK.

The cynic in me suspects this is just more distraction tactics from BJ

I'm boosted. See how that pans out. First two I had no real effects.

I really don't think so - he's been reliant upon vaccines from the very beginning of COVID and the data as the efficacy of two jabs against Omicron and number of infections really has just come out.

How many people have died of it, not with? That's the information we really need.

Yeah I think he's goosed either way to be honest. He's lost everyone now anyway - the Xmas party thing has pretty firmly united those in either camps against the Gov't I'd say. The beginning of the end started for him in earnest last week.

If the Omicron variant is indeed only very mild, then this reaction will be seen as an overreaction. If it isn't, and people start dropping like flies, then it will be seen as to little too late. Again. Personally I suspect and hope the former.

I'm not convinced that the public will swallow having to have boosters every 4 months either. They must realise that any positive response to this latest call to get jabbed is unlikely to be repeated again.

Averaging 52 a day currently in the UK. Since the rate of deaths lags a couple of weeks behind the infection rate, expect that to go up (the infection rate having gone up massively in the last week) and the NHS to be overwhelmed even without people dying.

Not sure if you're anti boosters, Broccers? That is literally the only thing Boris's announcement last night was about.

I didnt watch ol Bozza or any news this weekend.

Long queues to get boosted this am when I was out. I'm not anti booster or vax. I can understand why people are tho. I won't be taking the next one unless it protects for 12 months - this is getting ridiculous.

1 death is being widely reported on the news. Where did 52 come from?

Plucked from thin air. Just like the being locked up in a hotel for 10 days or eating a scotch egg. If an alien landed on this planet right now they would think we are a bunch of retards.

We are on about Omicron Jobbo - 1 person.

Your question was how many people die of it not with it. That facile question was answered a year ago anyway; the reported stats underestimate actual deaths by about 20%.

Obviously people won't be dying of Omicron if they've only just become infected so a figure of 1 is about as relevant as saying nobody died of COVID in Feb 2020.

Sorry mate this is utter shite. If something is very deadly, which this isnt to 98 percent of people, then there would be more urgency to do something. As its absolutely not that deadly we are in a spin of money making or recouping of spend on useless shit like masks which are proven to not work.

Go on then, I'll bite. Show me the peer-reviewed scientific evidence which states wearing masks has no effect on virus transmissability.
