Never really like the Europa. It has an odd shape.
V6 Exige is lovely. It'd have to be a Roadster for me though - I prefer the cleaner looks, plus the removable roof for extra summer sunshine (and yes, I know you can remove the coupe roof too). If they were in my price range, I'd be really, really tempted, but financially, they're a bit out of reach. Still knocking on for £40k. GFWilliams one above is just stunning, also helps he's a dab hand with a camera.
Ultimately, the Evora ticks alot of boxes....if I can find one in the right spec.

Have to agree about the Europa, they’re a very ugly car. Nothing about their spec makes me want one either.

Had some feline assistance installing the new speedo this evening. He's not ours but loves us for some reason.
Work made me a bracket for fitting the sensor, a fella who built a GBS Zero drew it up in CAD and made it on our machines. It comes off the brake caliper mountings and senses the hub bolts.
Finished wiring it up late tonight but a test drive shows I haven't got the calibration right. Instructions are peculiar, it seems it doesn't matter whether you put km calibration figure in or miles one. :somethingsfucky.jpg:
Trying KM figure tomorrow as miles one under read by a lot!
Maybe I'm missing something though...

Porsche Mini Resto update:
Needs more than I thought:
Some rust sorting on the arches
Full suspension refresh, is in pretty much everything, all the arms and springs and dampers
Brake caliper refurb inc new discs and pads all round
Wheel refurb
New Michelin Tyres
Rear wiper delete
Sort out a wonky rear exhaust tip
Various underbody bits to get replaced or blasted and powder coated.
A fair bunch of this I will do over the winter as I suspect I may garage it to keep it away from the salt over the worst of the year.

Speedo update:
Use the km calibration number, halve it when it under reads, then arbitrarily minus 300, then another 300 and it's accurate

Collected the trailer. Needs a bloomin good clean and service but is fundametally sound.
Although it seems to be somewhat bigger than I really need, it's a 4.8m bed and a 4.2m Compact:

Even the Porsche is only a sniff over 4.4m. I guess it means I've got space for tyres, tool chest, other stuff.
When we collected it and first hooked it up to the van my wife said "you're quite a long vehicle".
I said "don't you know it !"

The cambelt is obviously a big chunk and I wouldn't do that myself. The rest is about £200 of materials ? Plus let's say 4hrs @ £100/hr.
Some of those prices aren't right - DSG service is 184 for example...

I've been fiddling around with the trailer tidying it up. It still amazes me that people who are into cars seemingly have no mechanical knowledge and either bodge, or ignore, any problems.
So far I have...
Cut off one seized brake cable
Removed broken front marker light
Removed badly frayed breakaway cable
Straightened bent jockey wheel bracket
Straightened bent rear light guard
Replaced blown tail light bulb
Removed very knackered numberplate mount & lights
Removed rear marker lights, one was badly fitted, the other was badly fitted *and* falling apart
Still to go...
Remove remaining brake cables, fit four new ones
Clean, lube & adjust hubs
Clean, lube & adjust overrrun mechanism, fit new bellows
Clean, lube & adjust handbrake mechanism
Fit two new front markers
Fit two new rear markers
Fit new breakaway cable
Replace broken side reflectors
Devise better numberplate mount (standard position is very low and vulnerable)
Fit grip tape to ramps (currently bare metal, will be rather low friction when wet !)
Give it a bloody good jetwash
Not urgent but nice to do if I get around to it...
Fit new decking, and add a centre desk
Fit locker(s) for tools 'n' stuff
Fit fresh tyres
Get an electric winch
None of those are massively serious, and it was pretty cheap to buy, so I don't really mind.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4's fitted all round today in place of the runflats, first impressions are the car is a lot quieter, I'm going for a long run tomorrow so shall see what the drive is like.

Also bought a trailer, although I ordered it in March and had to wait ages as I wanted the diamond plate floor rather than the plywood which would instantly get torn up so had to get a custom order.
Been searching for cheapish utility quads on eBay for the last week.
I’ve had a Rupes iBrid for about a year now but not been able to use it due to crap health. Finally had a go with it today.
Feels pretty slow and gutless so I didn’t think it would cut too well and would be a real grind on hard paint but it surprised me

So yeah really good for spot repairs and hard to reach places. The polisher itself has a really crap design in terms of ergonomics though. It’s designed to be used with one hand in a single position as the lever must constantly be pressed to use it (why didn’t they put a fixed on position...) but you obviously have to be quite flexible when polishing hard to reach areas and need 2 hands for stability.

Some people are just oblivious. Can't be trusted to do anything properly.
Missed an item from the list - I've just used a Hi-Lift jack as a makeshift body dozer to straighten the panel behind the number plate !

It constantly amazed me the dumb questions people ask on forums for cars you'd think you'd have to have a little bit of interest in cars to want to own.
The other day someone was asking why the windscreen washers on their m3 weren't working. The sum total of their investigations into the issue was to check there was fluid in the bottle

It's a good starting place, I guess
(Though still dumb admittedly, as most cars have a low washer fluid warning light)

I had a similar issue on the 4 Series, I knew the washers were full as I'd just filled them but nothing would come out. Turned out I'd forgotten to close the washer bottle, once that was done they worked fine although I've no idea how as it's a plastic bottle with a plastic cap and no metal sensors etc
