Given the number of potential Ford donor parts, it feels wrong that it’s based on a Toyota. Just a quick route to a mid engine layout I guess.

I think I’d just prefer a decent MR2 tbh.

just noticed the price of that unfinished kit RS200 - for That you can have a perfect MR2 and many thousands left over to make it fast!

Or you could buy a boggo solid MR2 for a couple of grand and spend the £6k change on that engine swap.

Edit: woops, that's what I get for not noticing a page change...

As it's a bit of a wrong 'ne, I'd take it with the MR2 engine but also the MR2 roof.

Reshell a rusty Puma?
Yup, this is a case of an easy build mid engined job, with the added bonus of easy registration. Iirc there is/was a kit that used a tube chassis and Ford parts as a ground up mid engined build. I can't remember the name ottomyh.

They were basing them on maestros at one point!

The Toyota isn't a bad base, would be a lot better with a mk2 mr2 turbo lump in it though if it would fit.

I'm like, it's a VW estate. So what? Ahh, ok. :o

Jap import, spec of which wasn't available in the UK?
(sounds like a mix of highline/whatever the top lux spec is on a Golf, mixed with the GTI drivetrain, in estate body)

Dunno, I was expecting it to be r32 spec / 4wd in an estate body but nope.

Would be more interesting if it looked like a GTi but in estate form.

Does nowt for me anyway.

I guess I like that it's the GTi running gear in a more practical body. I also have (or had, not for a while) strange desires for the Seat Altea that can be had with the same engine, or the 4wd version, the Freetrack 4, complete with chocolate colour interior and plastic tat on the outside.

Maybe much of the above, but even as it is it's more than we got. We got the 2.0 turbot in the Jetta, and that kept low key looks like the estate, but I don't know if the suspension was GTI spec (same with the estate). The estate has an extra bit o' lip on the front, don't know if standard. I don't know either if the mk5/6 estate was ever 4wd (mk3 & 4 were), but if not it could still have had an R engine and fwd like the Eos (and later 4 pot Scirocco and Golf Cabrio Rs). Aaanyway; big glass roof :P

That is awful. The Eos front end suits the eos far better and those wheels are lame.

I don't entirely dislike, possibly because it's a simple, clean design.
