I’m sure there’s no serious damage to the car though. New rad, maybe some araldite & zip ties and it’ll be good to go.

For my part of the day, I came 7/15 in class and & 23/50 overall. As long as I stay out of the bottom half of the table I’m happy.

Is that the event photographer stood in the background there?!

Being able to say “I crashed my rally car” is a pretty good sign of a fun weekend

Still not seen anything tempting to commute in so I’m thinking I’ll get a diesel Golf for now and change it when I see something I really fancy.

The new commute is 70 motorway miles each way and the incentive is that I will own the business, hence the current fiscal prudence with my next car choice until I see how well it does

Have a look at a diesel Leon FR. When i had a 65 mile daily commute thats what i ended up running. You get more leon for your money over a Golf and mine (150 TDI FR DSG) would do 60 mpg on the commute run...unless you got stuck in traffic.

'sfine. I didn't need a radiator the other day so wouldn't have been bidding.

It is exceptional fun, and cheap to enter. Any 4 cylinder car (if turbo, only up to 1.5) can do it - your current Fabia for one. Great doing it in two cars as well, twice the fun and less waiting around.

I'd sold the idea of a cheap, small family runabout to my wife, but then bought one without useable rear seats and with a front seat she can't use anyway as she's way shorter than me and I can't see her wanting to use a 4 point harness to pop out somewhere.

Fender bender on the school run this arvo, my fault Just a glancing blow, mostly against tyre so most of it has polished straight off, but the front bumper cover is deformed enough that it will have to be changed. Waiting to hear from the other fella whether he will accept a cash job, otherwise it will have to go through insurance. To be fair his looked like it hardly been touched. Pissed off at myself but that's what insurance is for I guess.

It certainly is. Join us Jon's car was IIRC £2k, fully prepped with full cage, seats, harnesses, decent coilovers and a bunch of other little bits & bobs. Bargain compared to trying to build something yourself.

I think I got away with it, yep.

That's an excellent question. They are welded on mount points for the brackets of a pair of spotlights. I took them off as they're not needed (or allowed) for the events I do so just add weight and are at risk of being busted. They do make it look more 'rally' though. The previous owner did night road rallies in it. You'll see the two studs on the bonnet as well, where the stays from the light brackets attach.
Full spec is:

1.4, 100bhp but with an induction kit and remap. Maybe 110-115bhp but who knows - I've not been to Surry Rolling Road in it.
Full bolt-in roll cage inc door bars (or it might be welded in, I'd have to check, there are no bolts on the visible parts)
Two bucket seats
Two 4 Point Harnesses
Sparco dished steering wheel
15" alloys from a mk4 Golf GTi (I think), painted white for extra speed
4 spare 15" alloys as above (although two don't hold air, but that's ok as I have pairs to carry as spares)
6 spare 14" Compomotive MO alloys, painted white
8mm alloy sump and tank guards, both removable (the sump guard has holes drilled in so it doesn't fill with water)
Gaz Gold adjustable suspension with raised ride height
Ferrodo DS Competition (or DS 3000) brake pads on the front ()I looked back at the eBay ad and it also mentions Bembo grooved discs on the front, but I don't recall that's the case)
Rally tripmeter (Terratrip 202) - but never used and not sure it has the correct probe to the wheel that's needed
Map light for the passenger
Hella Rallye 3000 spotlights (removable)
Spare wheel post in boot for two spare wheels
Air con delete
Rear wiper delete
Sound deadening removed
Rear door window mechanisms removed (rear glass is fixed, rear doors still open)
Custom dash panel with horn button (plus three other non-functioning buttons)
Rear seats cushions in place (to meet Targa regs) but strapped down under the roll cage.

£1900 - and from Lincolnshire which it about 5 Horus away, but driven down by the previous owner and delivered to my door as they happened to be going to Somerset that weekend and were passing my house

How you have the willpower to not put those lights on at every opportunity and drive around the local B-Roads I have no idea
