Faster than an e53 X5 4.8is, but seemingly not by as much as the owner expected / would have liked.
the performance figures would suggest he was probably using half throttle! 0-60 6.1 vs 4.1
Numerous ~70 - ~120 roll-ons showed it was faster, but really not by much. As we all know though, to really pull a gap needs a huge performance differential.

Ah ok, by not really relevant timings, it’s still faster.. 🤷‍♂️

Wow, it’s been a long time since I saw one of those. They weren’t even common 20 years ago.

Was following a current gen 740d round a roundabout when a current gen M760Li "breezed" past us.

Can't be many of those badgers about

im sure the 4.8is was fast in its day, but I'm still struggling to believe the SVR wouldn’t completely smash the 4.8is if it was actually trying.

It’s 2 seconds faster to 60, 2.5 seconds faster 1/4 mile, then it’s got an 8 speed gearbox and nearly 45% more bhp, 25% more torques & 10% less weight.

2 seconds quicker to 60 but only 2.5 seconds quicker over a 1/4mile would suggest that when up and rolling there isn't actually a massive difference between them :?:

fair point, that does suggest a chunk of time is made off the line.

What was the closing speed at the quarter mile?

Slightly o/t, a general moan; If it makes quoted weight, which JLRs tend not to

Let's be clear, I couldn't give a fuck either way.

It was a throw-away comment. We had some pulls on the motorway, I expected it to romp off and he clearly did yet it didn't. It was faster and he pulled on me, but not by much. I'm not trying to claim it's a fast car, it's 2 tonnes and only has 360bhp, 4wd and the aerodynamics of a garden shed. I've owned fast cars and this isn't one.
