I've seen a variation on that theme but maybe not so blatant
It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

Saw that one yesterday. It’s a very limited view but it’s not as if the cyclist was in the way of the fire engine if it was simply overtaking. Emergency vehicles have to give way to other vehicles too - turning left into a no left turn immediately after overtaking a cyclist is not clever.
Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement
Nobody has to give emergency vehicles priority, or has to move over in their lanes to create a passage for an emergency vehicle to progress through heavy traffic. People give them extra room in recognition that there is an emergency, and that an unknown 3rd party is in some level of peril.
Other countries (Russia and Turkey as examples that spring immediately to mind) treat them like every other road user, and block them / cut them up as a consequence. Which is great.

You can't even see if the fire engine was indicating, and even if it was, it wasn't exactly ahead of the cyclist for that to be apparent until it turned across him. Irrespective of the usual twitter pile-on against the cyclist, the fire engine driver appears to have been negligent.
Driving with blue flashing lights on does not give you a free pass.

Also no sound, so you have no idea whether sirens and horns were going, or whether the fire tender was just driving along with their blues on. We can see in the drivers mirror that a motorbike is hanging back. We can see that the cyclist is pressing down hard on their pedals throughout as their arse is lifting off the seat. We can see that the cyclist looks downwards instead of straight ahead just as the camera car slows to allow the emergency vehicle priority (edit - it's actually as they reach the other waiting cyclists - before the camera car slows). I can't tell for sure, but it looks like the cyclist doesn't have their hands positioned to apply their brakes. I don't see any indication that they slowed.

None of which is actually negligent by the cyclist - that's just riding a bike.mik wrote: Fri Dec 22, 2023 8:33 am We can see that the cyclist looks downwards instead of straight ahead just as the camera car slows to allow the emergency vehicle priority (edit - it's actually as they reach the other waiting cyclists - before the camera car slows). What is the camera car? Interesting mirror. I'd also not really appreciated that the camera car is between the cyclist and the fire engine and is overtaking the cyclist - blocking the fire engine until the last fractions of a second. Would be very interesting to see a dashcam view from behind

We have successfully achieved disagreement. 5 points each.

If there were no flashing lights involved, I don't think you'd disagree with me.

That clip never gets old.
Although from 12-14 seconds you can see Gino pause, then smile and look down before saying his joke. It's almost as if someone was feeding that line into his earpiece at that time and was having a hard time not laughing.

Most good jokes are meticulously scripted, it’s still incredibly funny
Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement
Not sure what point Pudsey Pedaller is trying to make there - is he attempting to say the driver is at fault for not hitting a cyclist who was riding down a dual carriageway in the middle of the night with no lights on?
Both driver and cyclist are fucking lucky. Can’t say I’d attach any blame to anyone but the cyclist. I keep seeing them without lights at night near me - one last night on the main road into Cheltenham. Fucking stupid.

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement
He's trying to make out that the cyclist is doing something illegal, therefor isn't a 'responsible cyclist', and that the car was speeding (based on the distance between two 'slow' markings on that well known, accurate system, 'Google Maps'.
I suspect PP jacks it to the highway code, and they sound like just the most tedious fucking cunt imaginable.

Train should have been driving to the limits of it's visibility, obviously, regardless of what the cyclist was illegally doing.
Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement
Likewise (apart from "driver lying, he was speeding", "ha! It isn't a cyclist!", and "I could see him (after rewatching frame by frame eleventy times) so driver wasn't paying attention and should be BANNED"
It helped the curve went to the right, any idea where it is?
