Already said elsewhere this morning but why do we keep entertaining Musk's bullshit?
Might as well have shown the Mach 5, it's about as real.
Absolutely this. I was shouting at the radio when it was in the news. It is not news.

Jesus Christ. Cybertruck was a disaster, cybercab is non-existant, 3/Y is 9 years old with no replacement in sight, S/X are gone with the factory being used to make non-existent robots, FSD was supposed to drive people from coast to coast years ago, and the last roadster revealed nearly 9 years ago and never hit the streets despite taking huge deposits, and now...... this?
It's simultaneously the cleverest and stupidest thing I've ever seen. Yes, it does a silly flip. But no, you won't be able to buy it let alone drive it anywhere.
Imagine how good Tesla could've been now if Musk hadn't been in charge? What they could be doing now instead of lying to investors and consumers alike?

Can't wait for him to claim it'll create a sealed and pressurised cabin so you can take it to the Space X moonbase that's just round the corner

The physics isn’t physicsing. I can’t believe a 2+ ton lump of metal and stuff would move like that. The underside as it rolls looks a proper bodge job.
The number of posts I’m seeing from people thinking this is exactly as it’s going to go into production in a couple of weeks is insane.

even if this was all real and they’d even managed to make it production ready, and it was somehow legal to have a jumping car you couldn’t fucking use it. You’d have to be strapped into a 6 point harness and hans device to not get whiplash being thrown around like that.

As Unzippy says (implicitly) it's a rolling shell with the guts of an orbital module crammed in there, it's got fuck all to do with the real car, which at this point I doubt even exists outside of styling bucks.
It's just to keep the stock price bumped by numpties who ignore everything in Simon's post because they've now built thier personality around defending Tesla.

It's interesting that the cars doing the flying about and acceleration runs are on big ugly aero wheel covers unlike the car on stage. I'm presuming some extreme weight saving shenanigans to make the stunts work.
The regular thruster-less one being RWD means I doubt the 0-60 will trouble a Model S Plaid let alone the like of Rimac.

Referring to this as the "last manually driven Tesla" must mean the fanboys only have endless refreshes of the current 3 & Y to look forward to.
So much of their stock value is wrapped up in this idea of mega growth but the existing cars don't have the novelty value, there's massive competition and even if FSD gets approved who's going to want to pay £100+ a month for it?

The number of motoring pages posting about this as if it was a real production ready vehicle is disappointing.
I guess it’s all about the clicks and to hell with decent journalism.

That's why there was no driver, it was full of this!
I like it how the first thing he says is a bare faced lie aimed squarely at making morons go "waoh":
"In order for us to break the laws of physics"
I mean, no you didn't. And even if you did, Brabham beat you to it by nearly 50 years, never mind GMA and McMurty who have, er, real cars you can buy that do basically the same thing. And as I noted, slapping aerospace gears on cars is nothing new.
At least when McMurty put their validation road prototype upside down, the MD had the spine to be the one in the car for it.

I'm still waiting for my $20,000 Optimus robot. Will be useful to have an extra pair of hands around.

The Pontiac Firebird was doing this with a simple Turbo button back in the 80's, so glad we've finally got the tech in our own hands.
M6 traffic will end up like leap frog.

If anything the rocket bullshit detracts from the car, guess that was Elon's contribution... There's some genuinely good stuff there. The battery pack and motors seem clever, the active aero is cool, and having a genuine fan car which is only a 1/4 to 1/3 of the price of the competition. Seems like someone in Tesla saw sense and is offering the car in a base spec as they know they will never be able to sell them with the thrusters.

This is the worst thing. No one daring to call it out as the obvious bullshit it is.
I guess they’re all scared of not getting invited back or getting sued by Elon.

Aside, can't imagine why Musk is pushing this as hard as possible. Seems people are happy to talk to the press to say the slowing down of Starlink in Ukraine was his suggestion to Trump, not the other way around. And other sources have said that "No request was ever made by the president" to slow Starlink down.
And he's now worried - you know, a bit late - about how his European customers might react to him effectively aiding an adversary in a conflict that could feasibly roll over into Europe proper.
Writing on social media, Radek Sikorski, Poland’s foreign minister, warned the tech billionaire: “As your European customers, we are watching you.”
So, er, not well then.
Edit, I knew this felt familiar, forgot this game existed. There was a fresh launch trailer and a demo a few months ago, I'd put good money on this being the inspiration for this stunt.
Twenty quid on steam if it looks interesting to you

Are the markets finally tiring of his stunts? Interesting to see the stock dropping during the day. Not exactly off a cliff admittedly, but no up bump at all.
