No need for a tail rotor or any control systems when you have a throttle and blind faith 8-)

That might compromise the lightweight design ;)

He's taking plenty of precautions, it looks like he's wearing safety sandals.

You can just see that going sideways and cutting most of the spectators in half.

I was expecting the rotor to fall down and fvck him off forwards.

I was waiting for the moment when a funny video became a massacre

That could have so much worse

There's no visible downdraught at all! You don't really get to see the "blades", but I am guessing he's missed the concept that these require to be aerofoils with some pitch on them

And as soon as he does that, and gets the thing even a tiny bit off the ground, he'll find out very quickly why real helicopters have tail rotors

Also the balance, it's massively front loaded because 75% of the weight (i.e., his body) is at the front. He's really lucky he didn't get any upwards movement as the whole thing would rotated and tipped forwards

Kinda puts me in mind of the Steve Hughes joke about Climate Change.

"The Americans are dropping depleted Uranium all over the place and detonating nuclear weapons under the sea but we'll be OK because I've got a special lightbulb and a bag for life"

I totally reckon that the rapid push for net zero is what will primarily drive the crucial next degree of increased global temperature. Instead of using what we have which is more environmentally friendly we’re essentially being pushed towards throwing perfectly good things away for “greener” alternatives.

Remember when our Government and others in the West were getting angry about the Amazon rainforest getting cut down… a lot of that is not just for soy plantations but also because balsa only grows in South American forests. A critical component for European and Chinese wind turbine blades

As long as we’re not fucking over a developed country then it’s all carbon neutral right.
