Had 1st AZ jab Tuesday morning, very slick operation although apparently the queue blew out to an hour and a half later in the day.

Felt a little flu-y headachey that night and through Wednesday but that's been all. Mrs had hers at the same time and has been miserable, very sore arm, fever and no energy at all. The injection site on her arm is still swollen and hot to the touch.

But feeling more positive about summer now. followups already booked.

Went out last night for dinner outside a pub, hugged friends and will be doing the same today and tomorrow. Reached the end of my compliance now.

The roadmap to lifting restrictions was clearly laid out and well publicised and has happened exactly as proposed. You conspiracy twats are so desperate for it to fail, just so you can stay relevant and say "I told you so."

No fucktard they are slowly but surely drip feeding not totally lifting everything like they said they would. Only time will tell but please open your eyes.

Local lockdowns? In your plan Richard?

Do you really believe that this is anything more than vaccine propaganda targeted at the minorities in these areas (Blackburn and Bolton have a high % don’t they) who have shown reluctance to have a vaccine? Reading the stories they are always concerned/worried/looking at these variants then always have parts in them saying how so far they haven’t been able to show that the vaccines are less effective on these variants. The fear porn media go into a feeding frenzy over stuff like this so are very easy to manipulate/predict and it doesn’t do any harm making sure they keep the message up on the rest of us.

Ah the skating around the racism point. Well that's a tricky one. Turkey's on the 1700 hotel quarantine list because of folk going there from places like India to avoid a) paying and b) quarantine although Turkey has caught up with this now and put a stop to it.

It's instances like this that lets the whole thing down.

Listen for the avoidance of doubt I want this to end very quickly but can see what they are doing. Local lockdowns didn't work last time. People just leave the area and say they're working. It's unenforceable.

All I fucking hear from you wanks is "the MSM is lying", the MSM is part of this scam", "the MSM should be held accountable"... etc... Then every time, there you are quoting the latest journos opposing view that's there to sell papers. We've hit every date so far.

Of course Covid doesn't just disappear in June 21st, every bit of published literature for the easing of restrictions alludes to this point and asks for continued care to be taken.

I'm pissed off about the Indian variant because it was clear weeks ago that India had a problem, and should've been added to the red list. It took them more time to act, and then their restriction date was 5 days after the announcement (plenty of time for folk to rush to the UK before the rules changed). Boris the idiot only cancelled his own India trip when people were literally dying in the streets out there.

Anyway, remember that they said the lockdowns were to protect the NHS originally, and to stop it being overwhelmed. I don't think there is so much justification for further lockdowns just to stop higher case numbers that don't also include rising NHS admissions. That's not really palatable for most of the population I'd say. If you need the regional lockdowns then do that - Us poor blighters in the South East lost all resemblance of Christmas thanks to the 'Kent variant' so no reason why the whole country should now suffer because of higher incidence in a few localised spots up north, sorry.

I would generally agree and there is a really danger the government loses any sense of perspective with these variants that they are monitoring. If the most vulnerable are vaccinated, even if a variant is 50% or 100% more transmissible it isn't proportionate to keep the whole country under the same lockdown rules designed to stop hospitals being overwhelmed and ICUs beyond capacity. The real concern is if a variant triggers serious disease in those vaccinated and I'm not sure there's been any evidence of that yet.

Remember a not insignificant number of the population were thought to have prior immunity from other totally unrelated coronaviruses so I'm very hopeful that the chances a close variant could essentially render the vaccine ineffective is pretty low.

I've just looked at their Terms of Service. Which head of impermissible material do you think covers this? It isn't covered by any of them so far as I can see so really what we have is someone being banned because of a moderators arbitrary decision as to what is 'offensive' (for which they have no legal right to censor in their ToS other than probably, a get out somewhere, that they can ban whomever they like)

If you think his tweet can be classified under 'hateful conduct' or 'abusive behaviour' as set out in their ToS then that's precisely the problem!

The problem is - and this is where it becomes intensely political - is would the tweet have been taken down if the same things had been said about someone who wasn't a left of centre environmentalist?

Look I see the safeguarding element, etc. if she was still 15 years old, but she isn't - she's 18 - so where do you draw the line at a joke not being 'safe'. Will she still be seen as beyond satire at 20, 24?

Isn't that the issue though - by the time we have evidence of it, it's too late. while there's a "risk", You have to keep things locked down until you can be as certain as you can - hence the talk of local lockdowns where this variant has popped up ?

Yeh but then you'd stay locked down forever. Totally disproportionate to lock down until its essentially been eradicated.

Whilst I don't agree with Broccers that it's a conspiracy we'd then have gone from:

Lockdown to stop ICUs overflowing ---> lockdown until we have infections under control ----> lockdown until everyone at risk of dying is vaccinated -----> lockdown until everyone is vaccinated -----> lockdown until there is so little circulation that new variants wont arise (which is nonsense anyway as they will arise elsewhere and be imported sooner or later).

The goalposts have been moved so many times I don't know where they are anymore.
