The timetable for lifting restrictions has been pretty well publicised.

I don't have a lot of sympathy with either side there.

I can't fathom why those people don't get that you can't congregate in that manner. That's before you consider those that are clearly inflammatory and inciting violence.

Who takes smoke bombs and missiles with their tambourine to the park for a socially distanced chant

People should pay attention to the news coming out of India and be thankful we never got anywhere near that bad, their hospitals are running out of oxygen and people are dying because they can’t get that one basic treatment. The pictures of funeral pyres burning in crematorium grounds are eye opening- they’re having to do that because they’re running way way past full capacity

Image

All this is a result of mass religious/political gatherings, large weddings, lack of mask wearing and people generally letting their guard down

I disagree, it’s because as a culture there is a huge amount of saving face and arse covering over actual work.

It’s like having 9 fire fighters employed to shout the fire is under control and 1 actually fighting the fire.

I was amazed it didn’t run wild over there in the first wave, must have been a lucky set of circumstances because it looks pretty horrific at the moment.

Hearing some of the reports from over there, and news articles from a few months ago people thought they were past it and there was even some question as to why India's numbers were so long a while back link.

Then you hear that people were partying at Christmas like it was over, religious festivals, political rallies, and general lack of mask wearing and distancing combined with poor hygiene, it's a wonder that it took so long to get this bad to be honest.

A well liked colleague is having a party in a couple of days with a few hundred attendees. In the north but still quite a large population.

Madness.

I’m 42 in a few weeks so eligible from today. Available dates looked to be going quickly while I was booking.

Thanks for the heads up, up until yesterday it was 44 which we aren't quite eligible for.

Meanwhile up north... still no word of a first jab.

Apparently the prevalent strain in India is the British one, but their vaccination rates are only at 10% and as others have said, they've been having all sorts of mass gatherings.

I've had the text but there's presumably been a mad rush. Nearest centre is St. Helens or Widnes. Balls to driving for an appointment, if I can avoid it and walk.

I'll try again later or later this week to see if I can get in the local village. Or I'll phone the GP.
