I've flown into Queenstown a few times now, and so far on clear sky days. It's absolutely magical to have the window seat for these approaches. Seasoned flyers here book tickets based around which seats of the plane to be in for the best view vs time of day for a few of the airports, Queenstown being one of them. I have to admit the first time I did that approach I wonder WTF was going on with impending mountain impacts everywhere - feels like swinging your arms round lamp posts to make each turn!
