Oof, that's more than I get paid a month

Nearly time to do a service on my BMW incidentally - not expecting it to cost a huge amount (oil, brake fluid, etc) but thanks to various financial factors I may put it off till next month as this rate.

I plan to start walking to work this month anyway (need to lose a few pounds, and pounds) so no great shakes.

Nothing like a bit of Heart FM to get you in the mood for some motorsport

I know. Cheeky sods! I haggled it down from £740 too. Cnuts wanted £540 to do front and rear pads

Makes £3800 for a replaced cylinder head seem not so bad after all

From what I have seen recently they can be very good value, I waited about 6 months until merc had a 25% off sale on the plans before i purchased mine. most defiantly cheaper

He's certainly got more time off. If I take time off, I still get work chucked at me cos my place is constantly run as a skeleton crew and so no-one really gets any time off.

Needed to free up the garage so Ferrari has gone off to be stored down the road. Decided to give it some tlc, so getting small chips etc corrected, plus... he’s quoting me to install parking sensors as the wife wants to drive it now!

Had a good look around the place previously - around 50 Ferraris ( F12 TDF was the wildest looking thing.) , 40 Porsches (everything from an R to a 2.7s to a GT1), 20 + McLarens and a British room that had an eclectic group of 50 or so cars and many more other exotica. These ranged from a V12 AM to an immaculate XR2! Also had a good look around a new shape Ford GT. Huge thing!

One of the rooms is taken up by McLaren's Z B, who has subtlety had floor matts created with his name in them. LH car, EB110, 959 plus a massive 4 lane scalectric set up that was ready to go!

X5 needs a service - pads and oil, I think. RichB - where do you get yours serviced?

i use K&M in Windsor - I’ve used them for years. They’re very straightforward to deal with and don’t try to up sell everything. I checked their costs against another specialist in Staines that another mate With an M3 uses and they were exactly the same too.

Thanks, I’ll give them a call. It’s currently staying at my parent’s until I move. Of course, this “move” has been nearly two years in the making and we still haven’t found the right place!

I guess it must be a little difficult to find a house with a suitably reinforced entrance area?

Combo is in for the clutch, timing chain tensioner (mechanic commented it was a little slow to tension on start up), rear brake inspection and service. Parts came to a princely sum of £170 (which included a SMF conversion kit for the clutch) and I get mates rates on the labour (he's on my race team now) so shouldn't run me to that much.
It's been a good year for it and the only thing it will need out of the ordinary will be resealing of the brake master cylinder to the body as the sealing has failed (as they all eventually do) and the drivers carpet is damp. Certainly a better propostion than running a navara for the wifes business. So giving it a decent once over now is well worth it.
After initially costing us £1000 (purchase price, plus VAT, fees and the work that needed doing to get it up to a decent standard) it's cost us a pair of Taiwans finest DF's and a set of rear shoes (which keep going out of adjustment for some reason), still doing about 550 miles to a tank of fuel so is cheap business motoring for her.

First few weeks with the L200 shows it is as ecomomical as the Navara was and Scooby is so it doesn't cost me any more to commute in it and it's quite relaxing being an auto, it doesn't drive like a Navara but i'll take reliabilty over that.

Scooby is due an MOT so I'll get that done on schedule along (rather than delay till the spring as it will be nice to use it on dry winter weekends if we get any) with a service and rear diff oil change before it's covered up for the winter. It needs a couple of genuine subaru crush washers on the coolant lines into and out of the turbo as they are still weeping a bit after the turbo swap, it's quite common apparently to need a genuine washer there. Ordered a cover for it and a solar panel to keep the battery topped up over winter.
