IIR in thinking that Porsche in the UK sells cars slightly differently to on the continent/elsewhere? I was always under the impression it's much more about brand loyalty and having to work your way up the food chain to get a chance at buying the halo models, as opposed to just being able to rock up with the cash abroad and slap an order down.

Ir have I got that arse about face?

Pretty much that as I understand it. And if you want another one (GT3/4/RS) in the future then you need to sell your existing one back to the OPC. This looks to me like Harris justifying why he is about to sell his GT3 via his auction site and pocket the profit himself…. “Not my fault Porsche”.

The whole setup sounds horrible.

I'd put money on them not wanting to give him a profit on a vehicle they sold him a few months before, as simple as that.

I've sold a couple of cars over the last year or so when the main dealer offered pittance and scoffed at my asking price based on Motorway/WBAC only for the cars to end up at a main dealer after being sold to WBAC. It's like they can't bring themselves to give a punter a decent deal but will pay up for stock through the trade !

It does seem like a load of wank on Porsche's part. If it was like that globally, well fair enough. But to single out any one market for such sales rules just seems cunty to me. It's only a Porsche afterall - a mass produced sports car, not some 1 of 50 hypercar. It hardly keeps out the riff-raff.

Maybe it's a RHD thing, more limited production numbers and thus dealers just come up with a stupid system to allocate them which maximises profit.
Wonder if it's the same in Australia/Hong Kong/Japan.

Nah. It'll be something daft like some sort of hangover from when they thought they were something particularly special, about 30-40yrs ago. I'd love to know their thinking though.

Agreed, I blank them out when I look at the pics and enjoy the colour and shape of the car 8-)
I'd like to know more about it, I've only seen those pics.

I thought Porsche had real issues when it came to the amount of limited-run models which end up being flipped almost immediately so end up on the secondhand market, resulting in values being driven up and out of the reach of normal punters?

All sounds really weird, especially given Harris' longstanding, genuine enthusiasm for the brand - you'd have thought that he's the sort of "ambassador" they'd like to have onboard as he's not an influencer just looking for handouts and to jump waiting lists.

Do they have a clause saying you can't resell certain models for 6 months? I learned yesterday that apparently that's a thing in some European countries as there's people losing their shit over M3 Tourings being resold for a profit over here.
