I think we’re slowly persuading ourselves we need to buy one

Hmm, much of the time the camera car is doing something wrong so it's just self-incrimination

The way to make the Tesla save dashcam video is to press the horn. The last thing I wanted to do was to press the horn when I had an angry drugged up loon in front of me!
(There’s another way to save footage by pressing the dash cam icon but it’s not on my shortcut list and I’m not going to piss about searching for it whilst driving!)

Your communist brothers and sisters delight in your recordings so that we may flush out the chaff.

Keep your spider sense switched on at all times and just go with the flow, far worse things to happen.

I’ve done a bit of digging and it seems the transporter cigarette lighter socket is permanently live. However, the two USB-Cs next to it aren’t. So rather than go through the hassle of rewiring/etc, i’ve just bought a plug adapter and i’ll just plug it into one of them. hopefully it’ll work and they’re powerful enough, or i’ve wasted about £4 on ebay…

worth a go!

Tell me you've spent time in countries where the roads are chaos and anything goes, without telling me you've spent time in countries where the roads are chaos and anything goes

I find that a kick to whatever panel is nearest sharpens up bad drivers when I'm out on my bike tbh

Don’t kick Kenneth Noye’s car.

Ronnie Pickering is fair game though.

I wish dashcams had been a thing back in 2009, because my 328i Sport was totalled by a hit-and-run collision with a silver Seat which could have been identified with dashcam footage. I was pootling home at 30mph when they came around a corner in the opposite direction, sideways at about 50mph, suddenly caught grip, rocketed into my B pillar, bounced off and then fucked off. It all happened in about 3 seconds. I was left sitting in the middle of the glass-strewn road, windows shattered, U-shaped car and no witnesses. Had to claim on my own insurance, but a dashcam would have given a chance of identifying the other vehicle. That was a good car too, early E36 328i Sport with factory LSD.

I remember it well. Originally mine, I did a round trip to Edinburgh in it, return leg Edinburgh-Reading I did literally non stop, it just about did it on one tank. Solid car. IIRC passed to you when I bought a TVR ? Which I never got on with. The BMW was better.

Not sure what you replaced it with, but it was a great car. I also did a trip down to Dijon in it for NYE, and cruised back to Calais at a steady 100, with a few occasional blasts to 120, we got back to the tunnel very, very early for our train 😂 it was also fabulous at going sideways, perhaps even better than the E30 325i Sport in that respect.

That had sub-200bhp yet 100-120mph cruising was perfectly normal. My Corrado (VR6, owned 1999-2000) was exactly the same. Was it just the follies of youth or was the world really that different?

Eh....probably nah - the E46 had 230hp which isn't that much more, and it felt way more comfortable at three figures than two. Like, uncannily so. Er, so I'm told, officer. it doesn't take that much power to get to three figure cruising speeds, either.

I think it's more the general setup determined by being comfy but controllable on the autobahn that makes the difference. I think cars of 'a certain generation' from 'a certain design location' were just better set up for high speed cruising, whereas now everything is a world car, so has less of that coded into the base chassis setup.

I think you’re thinking too hard about it Beany. I genuinely think I just had a heavier right foot.

The E36 is still a great looking car isn’t it.
