It's a shame that so many old pubs have ended up rotting away in neglected areas.
Which is why I make a concerted effort to support as many local pubs as I can by purchasing their products.

We all have a duty I think.

That's hilarious!
Though in all seriousness, how would you go about planning and building a wonky pub?! If you follow building regs I bet you wouldn't be allowed to!?

The enforcement notice will definitely be appealed - I look forward to reading the appeal documents because they will inevitably contain a lot of juicy background.

I've no understanding of any of this, but what do you think might be in it?

It looks like they didn't use an spv, the Crooked house was purchased directly by the company which has almost ÂŁ4m of property owned and net assets ÂŁ2m.

Some evidence of how it came to set on fire then be knocked down possibly.
I can see them winning an appeal though. They can probably justify demolition on the grounds that itâs not commercially viable as a pub.

Itâs why theyâre changing the 4 year rule to 10 years. The council are so slow that before they can enforce anything the work is usually legal due to the passage of time

I have hear this said a lot, sadly there is a lot of truth to it. However, I can think of a dozen chain pubs near me just a 5 to 10 minute drive away. There's also some lovely independent pubs and restaurants a bit further out, up to 30 minutes. I much prefer seeking out unique food, even if it means a bit of a longer drive.

Another building 100s of years old, only 30 min drive from the Crooked House also suspiciously flammable.
