Yeah, I still wear the same shorts for riding this time of year as I do in the summer. It's a bit chilly for a few minutes at the beginning then all good.

One of the permies showed me a photo of him walking "my" route during The Beast from the East. Heavy snow everywhere, still in shorts. Bear in mind that's at least six hours out in the weather to walk that route. Mental.

I previously considered myself fairly immune to cold but they take it to another level.

I saw a postie locally with shorts on last week too, but I must admit if I'm walking a lot I'd prefer to wear shorts, and you don't really feel the cold until you stop. I tend to live in shorts most of the year, long pants just restrict movement

What a week to finish being a Postie!

Back to being some sort of Imagineer from Monday, sitting at a desk for 40hours a week. In a nice warm cozy dry warm dry warm room.

I did genuinely get a great deal of satisfaction from delivering the mail, especially things that had been misaddressed. A bit of mental stimulation combined with doing a good deed for a stranger was a thoroughly nice feeling.

As I said it was a genuinely positive experience by in large, almost everyone is happy to see you, outside walking all day and a job that is complete at the end of each day.

All it takes is a tolerance of extreme physical discomfort, relentless movement, occasional canine assault, low pay and a strong bladder.

Nice one.

The prospect of data mining everything you can observe or sumise from daily deliveries spanning months is frankly terrifying.

Thanks, out of all the stop gap jobs I could've had I think I was damn lucky to be with Royal Mail.

I've had bit of a revelation about how nice most people are.

Oh and the opportunity to drive around the countryside when doing OT parcels was great too, roads are so quiet!

Got to see a couple of very fancy manors too, one had a genuine moat!
