100% agree, but I know the north goes crazy for them, so wondered if that extends beyond the wall?
I'm from the North and hate mushy peas. Adding mint only makes them more repulsive!!
Curt sauce FTMFW!

I used to love mushy peas but have gone off them recently. Never ordered them from a chippy though. Only ever curry sauce

Has to be said, I only recently got into curry sauce with a chippy, and I quite like it.
As for fish and chip (or general fish and whatever), I prefer to have it out of the paper, but I will grab a fork if I've bought an egregiously large fish.
There is a certain satisfaction to eating the fish with your hands though...providing you're doing literally nothing else with your hands till you get to a sink with lots of soap and hot water

Curry sauce & gravy are all well and good, but they would prevent one from partaking in chippy sauce

Get out of here with your six fingered west coast madness.

Chippy sauce is east coast. Mik is unusually enlightened for a weegie.

You're all southern jessies to me. And your choice of condiments is bad, which should make you feel bad.
Don't even start on 'chip spice'.

WTF is chip-spice? Sounds like a deodorant for Saveloy Munchers.

With some assistance from Twitter’s PerfumeAdsForSale:
RichB runs inside a train looking over his shoulder
He plays chess alone in the bath
Rips up a university degree
Paces up and down a maternity ward
Dances in a boardroom
Punches a mirror
“Regret”
Pours petrol over himself
“It’s a state of mind”
Lights a match
CHIP SPICE

Chip spice is something that I've only seen around Leeds - it seems to be salt, paprika and perhaps some onion/garlic in there - the (non chippy, generally) takeaways around here put in on their chips all the time and it's just fucking awful.
But probably cheaper than supplying decent chips/fries.

I don’t know what chipspice is, but with that creative direction - I’m in!

You shake it onto your cutlery as opposed to the food, yeah?

It's just highly aggressive salt with some flavourings.
It's genuinely one of those things that is significantly worse than the sum of it's parts.
You can buy it in Amazon if you want, just look for American Style Chip Spice.

There is a distinction to be made here Mik. Indoors, cutlery is used. Outdoors chippy tea (the best way to eat chips) is with fingers.
I'll throw a spanner in everything by admitting I often add gravy or mushy peas to my fish n chips..
All of this, including the gravy. Glad to see my boy liking gravy with his fish as well - the wife is very disappointed
Yep, if gravy is involved it rules out paper.

Fish supper? I’ve always called it a chippy tea
Anyway if it’s in paper- onto a plate, if it’s in a box or tray then no
