Not up north unfortunately. Crawley - it's erm lovely. Fortunately near by some decent (ish) roads.

Shame. Marv’s Inverness-ish Caterham hire was inspired.

Ooh, Crawley's just down the road for me. Whereabouts is the hire?

Direct with Caterham. Not too pricey either for the day imo. 270s Sv I believe.

As I've said elsewhere, fantastic purchase Duncs. 8-)

Was a bit on the pricey side, but well worth it.

Not sure when, but hopefully we can organise another Scotland trip... It's almost customary for when one of us buys a new car, to take it to Scotland!

How much for how long Marv? Always fancied hiring his CSR200 and let the missus drive mine 😬

Great pic btw 👍

Which do you prefer so far, Elise's seem to sell tres quickly vs Caterham. Did you put yourself on a waiting list?
I think there's a good following for S1 Elises, but probably a lot of people are looking for the pristine examples. Having said that, Will Blackham got a lot of enquires for the one I bought, but with him being close to me I was able to head down as soon as he took delivery.

I struggled to sell my Caterham, my theory is that a lot of Caterham buyers want to buy off a dealer for some reason. I ended up giving mine away fairly cheaply to a deal who then soon sold it on for a substantial profit.

Highland Caterham Hire? I agree it's pricy but everyone has to do it once. I had an amazing time with the CSR.

I much prefer the little mk1 Elise to the later models, would like one myself if the urge to get something with a bit of a v8 brutishness wasn’t so strong. Remember speccing out my MDs one in 96 before they launched over at bell and colvil for him as he couldn’t decide, I’d still go for the metallic violet paint if I could find one today.

Think it was £210/day for the SV I hired (for 3 days)

Can't see the CSR on his website anymore?

The per day charge isn't too bad, but if you go over the daily mile limit, which you will if you do the NC500, it adds up rather quickly.

I see only 3x 140bhp SV offered.

Yep, going over the daily mileage allowance cost me about another £50!

^That's their CSR200.

Shame if he has taken it off the books, the CSR is my dream 7.

Enjoy yours.
Interesting, with inflation that is about the same cost of as a new Alpine.
I'm guessing that with a few options and a hardtop panel an Elise would be about the same as an Alpine now?
