Some of Broccers statement makes sense - the timeframe. Not sure why he thinks the vaccine won't work though. The likelihood is that the rate would drop off in the warmer months, and rise again in the colder months, as we observed last year. Will be interesting to see what happens in Aus/NZ in that regard.duncs500 wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 12:18 pmThat's probably what one of his antivax conspiracy people said.
I hope it does. Got mine on Thursday. Going back to this misery is not something I hope for. The problem is to save face they cant pretend it really wasnt that bad in the first place and must continue the way they started. See oz and nz. Over reaction.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 1:43 pmSome of Broccers statement makes sense - the timeframe. Not sure why he thinks the vaccine won't work though. We won't really understand the longer term implications until we've been through another winter with most of us vaccinated.
It never did tho.speedingfine wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 1:58 pm If Corona virus fills up the NHS again, there will be lockdowns. Why does anyone think this will change?
Depends whether you think the corridors need to be full as well as the wards:Broccers wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:06 pmIt never did tho.speedingfine wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 1:58 pm If Corona virus fills up the NHS again, there will be lockdowns. Why does anyone think this will change?
The NHS was never full otherwise the nightingale hospitals would have been used. They were really busy and some locations were overwhelmed but to say the NHS was full is wrong.Broccers wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:06 pmIt never did tho.speedingfine wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 1:58 pm If Corona virus fills up the NHS again, there will be lockdowns. Well true, but that means that the vaccine has failed catastrophically and if that happens, well I dread to think of the economic implications.speedingfine wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 1:58 pm If Corona virus fills up the NHS again, there will be lockdowns. Why does anyone think this will change?
ZedLeg wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:32 pm But TOMMYDIDNUTHINWRONGon Twitter said that the hospitals were all empty and this is just a normal flu.
Why would they lie Jobbo?
Ok, had reached their limits of capacity?Broccers wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:36 pmThe NHS was never full otherwise the nightingale hospitals would have been used. Ah yes, those magic additional hospitals with no magic additional staff to run themBroccers wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:36 pmThe NHS was never full otherwise the nightingale hospitals would have been used. Dont report first hand facts on here.Mark_bt52 wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 2:44 pm I can confirm that 2 of our local hospitals are indeed deserted. Very weird experience having empty wards and being seen within 10 minutes rather than the usual 2 hours.
Of course, and I'm certainly not advocating opening up everything tomorrow. We don't need any more chaotic hokey cokey policies (even hospitality as desperate as it must be getting for them). If nothing else I can't cope with hearing about how many million more pints of beer have been tipped down the drain!ZedLeg wrote: Mon Feb 15, 2021 3:30 pm With the way that infections have been declining recently then it's no surprise that hospitals are not as busy.
That shouldn't be used to judge how things were when infections were spiking (I figure you know that duncs but sometimes you have to state the obvious in this thread)
