I am sure he was more than the pantomime villian he was often portrayed as by the broadcasters. But he seemed to have far more influence than he should have done, so i am not sad to see the back of him.
Pleased for Lando, it was his to lose although at the start when Leclerc was chasing him down for a few laps, it must have given them pause for thought, but they would have had Oscar drop back and behind to ensure it was at least a Mclaren victory.
Roll on next year and Sainz in the Williams or Alonso in the AM to win a la Brawn '09.

I’m not sure Oscar would have followed orders to do that!
Yeah, we’ll never really know how much managing Lando was doing in third, didn’t look at all comfortable until he finally broke drs though!
I think in an ideal world they would have had Oscar win with Lando second and Max third, it would have ( I think ) given mclaren the constructors and 1 & 2 in the drivers championship. Their double disqualification for plank wear mess things up a bit and last weekend Max was just too quick.

I had a small bet on Max winning the championship so was a bit gutted he got so close. He’s the best driver imho (him, Lewis and Schumacher are my 3 best “modern” drivers) and if they were all in the same car I imagine he’d be the winner.
Portimao in for 2027 and 2028 after Zandvoort drops out after 2026.

Sweet, better than a street circuit. Surprised Portugal can afford it though.

Top marks for rule interpretation.

The fact that it now states “at ambient temp” is pretty much inviting teams to exploit materials at other temps. Seems suspiciously obvious in a sport known for poring over every tiny detail looking for loopholes to exploit.

Haven’t seen that video but only the technical stuff online. I was most surprised that increasing the compression however much (and it was quite a lot) supposedly only equated to a 15bhp increase.

I wonder how many engineers from other F1 teams are trying to work out if Red Bull have discovered a gloss paint that's even lighter than matt.

Psychological warfare
Hopefully a few other teams follow with glossy paint so the grid looks a bit less dull.

Apparently given the change in the way the PU package works this season someone has calculated that 15hp is expected to give a 0.4s per lap advantage at monza

Yes sounds a bit crazy. Supposedly Red Bull and Ferrari also have the tech so that along with Mercedes is most of the grid. Only Audi and Honda without it I presume which isn’t very important…

One can cut Audi a little slack, but Honda should know better and therefore dropped a bollock.

What do you mean that's not important anyway? This was meant to be Nando's big year!

When they dropped out they sold everything to redbull power trains and then rejoined in a consultancy capacity. Anything they have set up with Aston will be from a fresh start I believe

It’ll be hilarious if we get another 2 or 3 seasons of Honda GP2 engines and then Alonso will retire only for Aston Martin to produce a championship winning car.

They’re like an anti red bull, red bull keep the mega driver Max and supplement him with people that can’t find the cars window like max can, whereas Aston Martin keep that person as their driver. If Aston do make a winning car it’ll be Lance in 7/8th and whoever is his teammate in 1st
