All the oldies done in our family too as of today. Interestingly although they've all been to the same medical centre they have had a mixture of vaccine manufacturers between them.

@Explosive Newt A friend of mine is going into hospital for a day procedure, had a phone call the other day that basically said they can’t guarantee you won’t catch covid in this hospital, are you willing to take the risk? Is this a new standard or just the one hospital? Guessing someone’s trying a lawsuit or something.....
That's a new one on me... cynically it might be lawsuit avoiding but it's probably also duty of candour type stuff trying to be as honest as possible to patients so they are forewarned and can weigh up risks for themselves. GG can enlighten us all more about all this but I don't think a disclaimer totally absolves you of blame? Possibly more a defence against "I never would have come to hospital if I thought I could have caught covid" type lawsuit than any and all lawsuits for hospital acquired 'rona.
On the more reassuring side, everywhere I am working seems pretty good at streamlining the elective patients away from any potential covid patients - the only risk has to come from the staff but again we're getting twice weekly tests to make sure we're clear.

Not covid, but it was crazy when the missus got taken to theatre for the little one. We were read a whole list of things that could go tragically wrong and she had to sign her life away. I get it though, the NHS spends a fortune on birth/labour lawsuits, a surprisingly high percentage (way more than anything else) of their annual lawsuit budget IIRC.

Being brilliant at passing exams does not make you more adapt in life. You guys in law only got there on paper not personality. Mat H is still a cunt.

On paper? You know we're all paperless now, Broccers?
I'm very glad trainee solicitors don't get chosen based on their personality. Though I've worked at a couple of big firms in London where some seemed to get selected for looks...

People kicking off because lying about your travel history to avoid hotel quarantine is going to carry a maximum 10 year jail sentence. If you lie about where you’ve been and bring a vaccine resistant variant into the country causing the death of thousands I’d say 10 years is getting off lightly.
I think what it is showing is how lenient sentences seem for some quite serious crimes

The anger is at the fact it has taken so long, and the fact it is being seen as a distraction from the PMs teams' ineptitude.

That's not as it was being reported this morning - the ire seems to be specifically at the length of term.
Which I happen to agree seems a little on the strong side.

I see it as a deterrent measure, as they know damn well no judge is going to award a ten year custodial sentence for what amounts to forgery/lies.

You know when people pay their solicitor, it is for the advice and not the paper it's written on?
