They don't look like they'd struggle to afford a trip to Barbados if that's what you mean.ZedLeg wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 5:25 pm I’m not knocking the family btw, they obviously took the opportunity for a trip they might not have been able to have otherwise.
It’s the rules that are dumb. International travel is fine but you can’t go to the pub. There’s no consistency.

Meanwhile VdL keeps pointing that finger at anyone but herself

Re: Coronavirus
Although the new variants are a worry, I'm feeling increasingly positive that there's an end to this. Cases appear to be dropping at around the rate they increased in this peak, most of the vaccine news is positive, and in a month or so we should really start seeing the mass vaccination impact the numbers further. We might not get back to the way things were before for a long while, but I think restrictions will gradually get reduced from some time in March.

My missus just got a recommended job to apply for on LinkedIn as a "Social Distancing Manager - Construction Site".
Do you have them Rich?

Re: Coronavirus
My wife was made redundant from a bank last year and she's now working for the NHS on a project for long covid. We've had a couple of ex air hostesses dropping off our tests so it's providing work for a lot of people. You could argue they'd probably still be in their original jobs if it wasn't for covid though

Re: Coronavirus
i can imagine putting that one in the cost plan - yes mr client, I want you to pay 2 grand a week for someone to go around telling people to social distance! I have enough shit trying to get them to cover the cost of full time covid cleaners!duncs500 wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 8:10 pm My missus just got a recommended job to apply for on LinkedIn as a "Social Distancing Manager - Construction Site".Do you have them Rich?
I imagine the huge sites with loads of languages spoken need that sort of thing to stay open though.

That’s standard for the dying. When I saw they’d been allowed to visit him I knew he must be peri-clog-popping. Sad news but he definitely went out with a blast.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 4:52 pm Odd how his entire family (as reported) were allowed to be with him in hospital.

Has that changed then? There were plenty of stories during last year of only the very closest of family getting to see their dying loved ones for no more than an hour IIRC. And it was one at a time. Plenty of instances of people sating their last goodbyes by video call etc as well.Explosive Newt wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 8:47 pmThat’s standard for the dying. Re: Coronavirus
I think it varies by authority doesn't it? There's a vid on the news and Tweeted by the local police of a numpty idiot denier trying to remove family from the local hospital just up the road. They wouldn't have got that far if family wasn't allowed to visit.

It does vary a bit from place to place but it seems to be the general policy now we have a bit more PPE knocking about and can afford to give it out to families as well.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Tue Feb 02, 2021 9:24 pmHas that changed then? Re: Coronavirus
>10m have now had their 1st jab. That is hugely impressive. I remember thinking back at the end of December, when they outlined the target of the 15m most vulnerable by mid-Feb, that it sounded unbelievably optimistic.
Fair play to all involved.
It's just a shame that the EU still seem to be on the warpath against AZ-Oxford. Multiple countries now not going to use it for over-65s, all flying in the face of the EMA approval, which let's remind ourselves includes scientist from all memeber states. Politics > science, and it will be the most vulnerable put at risk. Meanwhile Germany is talking up the Sputnik vaccine depite it being a couple of months away from the end of the ph3 trials

My Dad has had his yesterday as he's 70, but my mum who has zero immune system is a few years younger hasn't yet and they wouldn't (obviously) give my Dad's to her.
Mrs Mike is due to go on nursing placement soon so should have had hers but they've managed to screw that up and the booking system won't let them re-book so who knows.
Cheers,
Mike.
