How cool does that Top Gun trailer look? So long as its not a massive turkey that film is going to be massive with pretty much every demographic of a certain age. Top Gun was the first movie I bought on VHS.

My first guess was that Cruise is sitting in the back-seat of a trainer plane so they can easily make it look like he's piloting it?

Tom has kept in great shape for a nearly 60 year old.

They've brought Val Kilmer back and he looks much the same as Kelly McGillis now!

Woman looks different than she did 30 years ago.

Movie looks good though. They probably just CGed his face onto whoever was actually flying the plane.

The quote “only man to shoot down 3 enemy planes in the last 40 years” got me curious. A quick google shows that last year a Syrian plane was shot down by the USAF - the first plane they’ve shot down in 18 years!

One cool thing I stumbled upon is that a specially configured F-15 was used to shoot down an obsolete satellite.

Cool story, I remember reading about it as a kid. Like the fact they bothered to get photos too 😄

I think it's time to ramp up the musical instrument collection and add an electric guitar (and big hair)

Watch it with a mind of where the cameras are positioned, it’s a 2 seat training aircraft with Tom switching between front and rear seats

Or watch his stage appearance at Comic Con where he explains it's real, not CGI:

I'm not really invested enough to watch that, being honest. I don't doubt he's in the plane :)

Fair enough. Don't forget this is Tom, who really did the crazy cliff climb for the beginning of MI:2, who sat on top of the Burj Khalifa between shots of MI:Ghost Protocol, who clung onto the side of a plane for Rogue Nation, who learnt to fly a heli to do all the shots in Fallout, including a death spiral manoeuvre, and did multiple jumps out of a plane just to get the opening scenes right for the same film. Of course he's gonna make it as real as possible.
