the story won't be about £2 a month, it'll be about the thousands.Explosive Newt wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:10 pm Isn’t it down to the individual patrons? If I was paying for something and not getting value for money, I wouldn’t hesitate to chop it. Or are people locked in to it?
On the other hand, £2 a month is the sort of payment that slips under the radar…

It’s been shit since they tried being overly clever and made stuff far more complicated than they ever had to.

Could have been finished by now if they'd just wanged a stack gauge cluster in it.V8Granite wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:39 pm It’s been shit since they tried being overly clever and made stuff far more complicated than they ever had to.

Re: Project Binky
There was a tipping point where the attention to detail and interesting solutions became dicking about and needless complexity.

They look like an "interesting" party. Doesn't seem to conform to what I usually connect with social democratic values based on their Twitter feed.

.....yeah. Clown town. At this stage, not a surprise from the Binky lot.The party also has an election pact with Nigel Farage’s Reform UK, with the two standing aside for each other in six constituencies, and more than a dozen candidates standing under a joint Reform-SDP banner.

They're socialist in name only to make them sound more appealing to lackwits.DeskJockey wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2024 6:30 pm They look like an "interesting" party. Doesn't seem to conform to what I usually connect with social democratic values based on their Twitter feed.
Nationalists dressed up as socialists, fucking familiar that, innit. It advocates for civic nationalism, an end to mass immigration, withdrawal from the European Court of Human Rights, the Council of Europe, and the 1951 United Nations refugee convention. The SDP campaigned in favour of Brexit in 2016......The party is campaigning on a manifesto titled 'Homecoming' which pledges to protect "family, neighbourhood and nation".

Well that's a bit shit. RIP Binky.
Re: Project Binky
I was willing to let $1 a month (old early-days rate) slide in the hope that it picked back up - plus I quite enjoyed the C1 race car and Escargot stuff in between. Finally cancelled it now.
It's been over 3 years since it was painted and all this "we decided to make our own PCBs for the gauges" stuff is nonsense, there are loads of places that will custom make them to order far better and quicker and cheaper than faffing around with a CNC mill.

14 months since the last binky episode. Trailer for "coming soon in 2024" 3 months ago then nothing.
It astounds me that anyone is still paying their patreon.

I'm telling you, sooner or later there'll be a YouTube video about them ripping people off. It'll turn the whole thing really nasty/negative and they'll wish they'd not been quite so lazy about keeping people updated!
Re: Project Binky
Are there any "Binky" replies to that?

Now it would be a political scandal too…..Rich B wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 11:33 am I'm telling you, sooner or later there'll be a YouTube video about them ripping people off. It'll turn the whole thing really nasty/negative and they'll wish they'd not been quite so lazy about keeping people updated!

I don't think there's anything nefarious about their actions, just merely incompetence.Rich B wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 11:33 am I'm telling you, sooner or later there'll be a YouTube video about them ripping people off. I agree - but when the figures come out it'll be tricky to argue that they really should be sorting it.Simon wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 12:04 pmI don't think there's anything nefarious about their actions, just merely incompetence.Rich B wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2024 11:33 am I'm telling you, sooner or later there'll be a YouTube video about them ripping people off. Re: Project Binky
It's not like the Kickstarter flops that raise huge amounts then don't deliver. You're paying to support their work, and maybe get a small perk back (like early access) in return, in the way that patronage has worked has for centuries. If you don't want to any more, then you don't have to. Stop producing things that your patrons like and they stop giving you money - their numbers have just about halved from a late 2021 peak.
Also, noticed it was exactly 11 years today since the first Binky video (pre-ep1).

Re: Project Binky
I get that, but at the same time if they’re not going to bother making any more videos they need to stop teasing things and making ‘coming soon’s and not producing anything. That’s where it starts to look a little scammy. People keep paying for continued content, which becomes sporadic and pretty much stops altogether.
