Also as you and Mik have said people who have had it will have some immunity.

Once we’re through the worst of the initial infections you can loosen some of the lockdown controls.
I was also reading earlier that one of the key unkowns is how long the acquired immunity actually lasts!

In other news - faced with a 12-week isolation the wife has been busy ordering things to keep her occupied. Swingball being one of them. Can see one of us being hospitalised with a busted eye and catching C19 all as a result of feckin swingball.

Still no word on the plans for schools up here although people seem to be starting to remove their children of their own accord.

Still seems to be lots of concerts and the like planned - is this just a Mexican standoff between promoters and insurance companies?
Cheers,

Mike.

What we need is a heatwave. I'd love to be able to bbq every day while housebound.:)

But they won’t necessarily be showing any symptoms, so there’s no way of conclusively identifying them.
As you said earlier. There’s no good option, this is a bad situation that we were apparently not prepared for at all. To my mind the things I’ve said are the best option we have though.

Very much this. :D However inhalation of BBQ smoke probably not helpful in protecting your lungs from potential infection. You've basically become a passive smoker :?

I've ordered a new welder. If I'm forced off work I might as well make myself useful 😂

They need to ramp up the testing, there must already be 10,000 people who have recovered from it but aren’t sure if they had the virus. At least that group can get on with their lives, help others and it will be especially important if they are a nurse or doctor.
How about not having a sig at all?

I don't think there's a test available yet which can tell you that though is there? Is that not filed under "coming soon"?

I think the only way currently is to test to see people already have it. China and Japan use a 15 minute test blood pin prick test to detect it but it can’t be used here as it would take months to approve.

As this is a car forum: has this (or will this) downturn affect any of your car plans?

I'm supposed to have a bloke coming to collect the Evora at the weekend, and as much as I'm disappointed to see it go, I was genuinely surprised at how much interest I've had on what is usually a difficult car to sell anyway, let alone given the current situation.

That, plus having the cash in my account will make me feel a little more comfortable in the coming months...my plan to swap the Up will be on hold for a while I think while I see how things pan out.

Hard to think about it, my main priority has shifted to paying the mortgage! I think that it will affect how quickly I take the plunge on something decent now, I'll probably look to build up a bigger slush fund to cover more future eventualities first. :(

I'm self employed and with the recent change in legislation I'm now bringing in a lot less money each week than I was last month, so this shit show isn't great timing.

IR35 toss?

No changes to car plans. Because other than a bit of very minor tinkering, I have no car plans

Yup. The government have f*cked us over good....

I've just started with a new client and I'm basically on a zero hours contract, albeit one that pays more money that the ones you get in JD Sports.

I've just bought 2 big bags of charcoal for that reason, everything seems a bit rosier sitting in the garden with no telly or social media whilst cooking or burning something.

My wife's handbag sized axe came today which is a surprise for Mother's Day and we will be 'stealing' (TM RichB) wood for the fire pit next weekend😎
