How did Leclerc not get a penalty - complete piss take.

Karun unusually being a moron today. He’s spent many races arguing the toss over whether car A’s axles is in line with car B whilst discussing a lap one incident but in this case he’s saying it’s ok as it’s a lap one incident…

Couple of head scratcher decisisons there. Will be interesting to see some replays of both the start and whatever went on with that VSC at the end.
Shame neither the 2-3 or 4-5 battles got to go to the end.

Looking again, Max was also never going to give Lewis space on the exit when he tried to retake the place as he went right over the line on the outside in his defence, so the early abort was wise, but the huge time gain was not.
At points I wondered if the commentators were watching a different feed, didn’t spot the Piastri contact and just commented on the actual overtake after.
The cynic in me says they didn’t want to penalise Max as they need him up there to keep the championship interesting

I saw a small bump I think, it was messy through a couple of corners.
No level of cynicism is enough when the FIA is involved

Oh yeah, definitely wasn’t major and just looked a bit clumsy, but the sky commentators seemed to completely miss it.
I’ve only bought a Now TV subscription for the last bit of the year with all the away / late races, most of the year I’m happy just watching the Sunday evening highlights. Must admit I find the commentary and analysis on C4 miles better.

I had a stream from the high-seas on a second monitor as I was definitely working hard and only taking the odd brief brain break while diligently working your honour. The Sky commentary was mostly annoying.
Even after a highlights watching I've no idea how the penalties and VSC were "organised".

How did max not get a penalty for his dive bomb? Lewis daft for not backing off after failing to go down the escape road properly. Maybe he thought he’d have the pace once free to put drive a penalty?
He appeared to be trying but then max got overtaken so probably thought fuck this

Seemed to me that Lewis got shafted several times there. Leclerc should have given him 2nd, then he got barged off by Max in a fight that should have been between Leclerc and Max, then his team should have told him to reduce the gap after going off (granted he should also have known, but he would have been disgruntled at the time).

Its shaping up to be the best end of a season in a long time.
Seems like max has polaroids of the fia, beyond inconsistent.
Mexico needs a gravel trap in turns 1, 2 and 3.

Frankly it's a miracle that they produce a car that is consistently amongst the top teams.

Everyone online saying that Leclerc spun on purpose to prevent being knocked out of Q2. I’m a pretty sceptical person but didn’t seem like that to me, looked like he was genuinely pushing rather than a Rosberg or Perez at Monaco type situation

Understeer, lock up, scream you fucking piece of shit at the car, stab throttle too hard in frustration, spin. Definitely not on purpose
Lewis has escaped penalty but receives a reprimand

I agree that it is highly unlikely to be on purpose, and obviously hurt the team as a whole. On the other hand, it did seem like a mistake that Leclerc wouldn't normally make, it almost seemed like it was in show motion. I give it a 2% chance of being intentional.

Bortaletto’s crash looked seriously nasty, steering column didn’t take kindly to it, that surely warrants investigation as the wheel was just flapping around everywhere

Oscar needs to turn things around pretty quickly to get back on top of Norris. His crash didn’t look too bad so hopefully ok for qualifying.
Bortaletto on the other hand, there’s and awful lot of rebuilding to do. Swapped ends really fast, looked a bit strange. Only saw a couple of replays before going off to do other things. Don’t know if he just drifted too far right, missed his braking point, or had some sort of failure. Was lucky not to wipe anyone else out too.

Apparently went for that jerky move with drs still open, so no rear downforce

Pastry disappointing. Went to shit as it mattered the most. Then again I’d prefer Lando to win the championship.
