Beany implied that right wing (or right of centre journalists) wouldn't run the story. Doesn't look like that's the case.

You raise a good point that many on the soft right detest Badenoch so that could be the motivation as likely all the others are doing similar things.

Well, that was about as funny as eating gravel.

Edit - oh, it's this utter clown, that explains it.
In July 2021, following the defeat of the England national football team in the final of the UEFA Euro 2020 competition on penalties to Italy, Lawrence tweeted that "All I'm saying is the white guys scoredšŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø", in reference to the skin colour of the players who had scored in the penalty shootout. After a backlash, he quote tweeted his original tweet, stating that "I can see that this has offended a lot of people, and I'm sorry that black guys are bad at penalties. šŸ™". Following the incident, multiple venues cancelled his upcoming shows and publicly denounced his comments as racist. He was also dropped by his agent.

ā€˜Comedian’ seems generous. Saying he’s not political seems blatantly incorrect. I doubt he’ll ever have the popularity to become the next Jim Davidson.

Wes Streeting seems to be trying to turn the NHS into an engine to humiliate the poor and disabled.

The population is getting fatter and it’s not all down to being poor/disabled.

Giving everyone ozempic isn’t a solution.

It's a bit dystopian, isn't it...

Aye, I’d like to see inside Wes Streeting’s mind tbh.

No healthcare for trans people but let’s pump fat folk full of diabetes medicine. I’d bet there’s an idea for benefit sanctions for anyone who refuses.

It really is a solution (a, as in singular, not the only solution, but absolutely can be one of many policies that could help people). Given how poor diets, obesity and the consequent health issues/NCDs are one of the biggest health threats and resultant costs to the NHS in this country.

I’d agree that in extreme cases it should be an option but ā€œmaybe if we get these fatties off the couch, they’ll get jobsā€ isn’t an extreme case.

When we were in Edinburgh, my partner got a free gym membership to help their mental health and weight management and it worked amazingly well.

Also won’t contribute to the global shortage of diabetes medicine

Let’s not forget that extreme weight loss methods like ozempic generally don’t work in the long term.

What is the solution then? Because it appears a lot of people aren’t able to take the initiative themselves on what is actually a simple problem.

Education and support.

A lot of the problems we’re currently having would be solved by properly funded social care.

Can’t make enough money for your pals in the private sector with that though.

I expect one of the outcomes of 2020 and the pandemic would be a focus on making the population healthier.

Education and support in the form of what? Cooking from scratch can be done on the cheap and there’s a million recipes on the internet, for free. I get that it’s easier to slide a frozen pizza into the oven, though.

Nobody needs to look perfect but I find it mind-boggling how people need education and support to not be overweight. There’s arguably more ā€˜education and support’ right now than there ever has been yet obesity levels are getting higher.

There isn’t though, social care is woefully underfunded and cooking is only easy if you know how to do it.

You need to make long term changes to people’s behaviour to get results here.

All this will do is funnel a lot of money from government into the private sector, which is what they really want.

As I said, very simple recipes are all there if anyone wants to have a go.

Why is obesity a social care issue?

Getting people out of the house and taking better care of themselves is a social care issue.
