I went for a test today, I have a slight tickling cough and no other symptoms, but with being at work in London most days last week I'm a bit paranoid. With the MIL staying I need to be sure it's not covid (could be too late, but no point making the situation worse), so I'm staying away from everyone (FWIW) until I get the results.

Might be interesting for some, some over 80s in my mum's village who were given doses of the Pfizer vaccine before Christmas were given their 21 day booster dose the other day, despite the government saying they weren't going to do that anymore.

Hope Mrs @mik is on the mend.

My Grandmas sister is the only person I know who has had the Vaccine.

If we haven't already had covid I'm not sure how, there's sod all social distancing in School Corridorsand my wife is a teacher, so its more luck than judgement if we haven't had it!

We've been having regular tests through ONS as well so we'd know about it

Looking forward to our antibody tests as I'm pretty confident I had it in February when I came back from Texas.

We've been negative all the way through, its a great thing to be part of i think, especially for my wife as she was exposed to so much Covid at school, certainly gave peace of mind to her.

You and nearly 400,000 other people, it's a huge project. We've done over 2m swabs now. Are you in the blood cohort or swab-only ?

We've only had swabs so far but we've been told we are having the antibody test at some point, not heard anything since though?

Oh, that’s interesting ! DHSC have said they want everyone doing bloods, but nobody has priced it up yet and I don’t know when they’re expecting that to start

That was apparently PHE, using one column per record, and you run out pretty quickly doing that.

Popped put to do some shopping this arvo. Just to the village. Staggered to see about 30 people queuing outside Costa, all within 1-2ft of each other. Since when is takeaway coffee essential and takeaway booze isn't?

Co-op wasn't limiting numbers anymore - so all the aisles (which are pretty narrow in ours) were chock full of people.

Still seems to me like too many people aren't taking any of it seriously anymore

So I was talking to my Sister-in-law who's the Deputy Head at a local primary school.

Last March lockdown they had 12 pupils attending during lockdown, out of a total of a little over 600 pupils. This time they have over 100.

Two problems. They've broadened the definition of 'key/essential' workers, and secondly people can send their kids in even if only one of the parents is a key worker. Some examples.

A dad who drops off in his jogging gear then goes off for a run around the park...
A teacher who drops off whilst her "furniture restorer" husband is at home on furlough.
And all the "working in banking and finance" who drop off in their jeans (so obviously not going to an office) before they go home for some conference calls.
There's even a pilot's children going in.

On the flip side:

The cardiac consultant for the local hospital who drops off, the dad who drops off on his Sainsbury's uniform and the night nurse who feels guilty dropping off but really needs some sleep before she goes back to work. The later had to be convinced to take a place! It really shows the difference between the entitled and the selfless.
