Maybe not four, but surely RB and Merc have looked pretty close to McLaren in a lot of places. One half decent upgrade could well be enough to knock McLaren off the top.

Oh.

Someone has to sweep up all the least desirable records, he's probably the most deserving of the "you're not in the same league as the others" rewards.

Aston Martin have really dropped off the radar this year. It's almost like Sky have just decided to ignore them. Maybe Crofty has had problems with his Vantage and AML haven't fixed it yet.

Newey on his first day probably said something like “look at all the loop holes I’ve found in the 2026 regs, let’s focus on that and ignore the 2025 car”

They’ll need more than loopholes to get far next year.

Has anyone seen the rumours of Mercedes testing of 2026 engine regs? They apparently have found they run out of electrical energy halfway through the straight at monza, leaving them with engine only, around 540-570hp for the rest of the straight. For comparison a modern f2 car is quoted at 620hp

Yes, essentially what Max found out in the simulator a few years ago https://www.planetf1.com/news/max-vers ... id-engines
and others were quick to say that it’s a Red Bull powertrain problem and that’s when the rumours that the Mercedes power unit would dominate the next set of rules began.

Lance really doesn't look like he's enjoying himself and is just doing it to keep Daddy happy. Fernando seems perfectly happy collecting the paycheque in the F1 seat equivalent of a retirement home.

I watched Piastri in F3 and F2, he was blindingly fast and made pretty much everyone aganst him look slow. Lando bottled his F2 (GP2?) year to George, he is good but accdent prone when anything is at stake. He may well get past that, but I would not put it past Max to just stay consistent and win by a nose, a la Kimi in 2007, with Oscar and Lando taking wins each, unless as someone said, the team start to favour one or the other.

I think last year was Lando best chance, and maclaren should have helped earlier on when he was their best title contender. He out qualified Oscar 20 to 4

This year he seems to be struggling with the pressure and Oscar seems more settled with the car. If they want to beat Max they need to choose their no1 soon.

Lando is doing ok in the races, I think he finished 6 places ahead of his start position, and similar last week, but then he shouldn’t have been starting back there in the first place. At least making a decent attempt to make up for less than ideal qualifying.

Hence all the emergency talks about bringing back v10s and using sustainable fuels instead of relying on so much hybrid energy.

Cant see how they can do it without royally pissing off everyone who’s dumped millions into developing the new power trains.

Max receiving a taste of his own medicine from Oscar.

Yep. And the fact he whines so much when other drivers apply the same interpretation of the rules as he does is why he still annoys me so much.

5 second penalty is too lenient when the dirty air costs half a second per lap and increases tyre wear. They should give the penalty and stipulate returning the place within 2 laps or something.
I do like that Piastri won’t let Max push him over though.

Piastri so calm and collected I think he needs a dna test to see if he’s related to raikkonen

Immediately. Why wait? If that costs the one that gained an unfair advantage a chunk of time and potentially places, that's just tough. There'll be margin calls, but if they wait for the stewards to judge then the place should be given up immediately when they announce it.

Great to see Antonelli take sprint pole. This is why I signed up to this season.

Would be magnificent to see him win the sprint race too.

Good to see Kimi keep his head despite it all being against him. A severe penalty for max, but would have been nasty if he’d span Kimi into his pit crew. Still waiting to see if Lawson gets anything for punting alonso into the wall
