I wonder how far off approval the MHRA are of the AZ/Oxford vaccine.

I watched the brothers grim saying there was no real reason for shutting pubs dead on 10 else everyone will die. So this tiers news is of no surprise either.

Also the positive test from pepsi or coke thing

Middle one's been told to isolate as one of his teacher's have tested positive. So that's his term over.

Wonder whether this is the start of the school going into shutdown. I guess having only one week left before two weeks off, might be a good thing.

I'm pretty sure the eldest will be rather upset that he's the only one going anywhere (little one is home too as the childminder is moving house).

My 14 year old is desperate to be put on self isolation...

GF finished her isolation on Friday so we’ve been kicking the arse out of our tier 2 status this weekend, especially as it looks like we might be slapped with tier 3 soon.

When all this is over I don’t want to hear about it anymore or be having endless conversations about it. It’s done, it’s over, so STFU about it.

Spoke to a former colleague today that's recovering from long Covid. Quite scary to hear. He's a couple years older than me, but very fit. He used to run marathons. Every lunch break he'd be out for a 5-10k run. He now struggles to walk more than a couple of kilometres and said he gets waves of fatigue where he just has to go lie down for 45 minutes.

Interesting that they now think there is a genetic susceptibility in terms of severity of reaction, and that they're trying to identify the specifics so they then might be able to use that to pinpoint those most at risk

We've just had a letter from the school urging all students, parents and siblings to get themselves tested to try to gauge if there's a problem with the school. Lot's of strong urges to restrict using the Christmas freedoms etc.

The letter seems to have originated from Bedford Local Government where the problems and rising infection rates are worse than Milton Keynes but MK rates are pretty grim reading too.

It's described as a "‘PCR’ test and not the new rapid test" - is that the nasty, scrape the back of your throat kind ??

Both my kids are off school. One because 2 year 10 kids have tested positive, and the youngest because they're only watching movies and playing games, so I pulled him out as a precaution. He can watch movies at home far safer. He's not, he's on Tasomi most of the day. I didn't even tell him school had finished until ten to four yesterday. He wasn't amused

I see Tom Cruise is all over social media today as there were some people breaching their covid rules on the set of Mission Impossible and he doesn't hold back. I wonder which poor sod leaked part of the robust conversation to the media though? That's not going to end well.

Better voice acting in that than his last half dozen movies

Update - the Head Teacher has followed up with a "this is optional, up to you" note explaining it's a recommendation from the council, rather than a School directive.

It's a bit all over the place - the letter from Milton Keynes Council included a link that was incorrect. They also said special arrangements had been made for stocks but go to gov.uk and there are no Home Kits available and we're not eligible for an NHS one.

I don't see why they're making such a big (confusing) fuss about Christmas. Its the one day/time of the year where people will just do whatever they want. Those who have genuine concerns about family members will adjust accordingly, but I suspect for the majority it will just be business as usual. The government should have seen this coming.

I kind of wondered if there would be a January lockdown combined with some sort of 24*7 immunisation programme setup in all major cities & PG surgeries depending on supply of the vaccines.

Developed a “Persistent Cough” on Monday. Wasn’t much better yesterday so I ordered a test that arrived today. Sent off to the lab but now today the cough has pretty much disappeared. Await the results but I don’t think I’ve had it.

140,000 people vaccinated in the first week. At that rate it’ll take around 9 years to do everyone in the country, and that’s just the first dose!

I think it’ll be a while before us normal people get it.

Other half is also going mad at all the people on telly administering the vaccine without even bothering to wear gloves or visor despite continuously telling us how much pressure they’re under, how contagious the virus is and how many hundreds of the most vulnerable people they might see in a day.

Are they even "vaccinated" until they've had the 2nd dose?
