It was £10 more at Halfords this year at £50. Last year it was £40, before that I went probably 6 years ago and it was £25.
Purchasing power. They hedged a load of R134a last year like my mate did but at a corporate level and on a much larger scale. The additional £10 is probably pure profit on year year prices. Next year it will probably jump to £70.

The rattling from the front of the Porsche after Brands turned out to be chronically loose top mounts  Having tightened everything up the rattling has been replaced with a creaking noise, so I'm going to put some thrust bearings in to allow the steering to move without the springs binding:

I need to pull the front shocks out anyway to remove the helper springs, with the supplied springs & aftermarket top mounts the front won't go as low as I want it. I checked with Gaz and they said it's fine to remove the helper springs. Long term I might order some shorter main springs. They're standard 2.5" i.d. and cost about £40-£50 each. Available in pretty much any length / rate you might want.

Today's job is to get The Compact ready for the Bordon Autosolo tomorrow. I picked up a Sportex exhaust for it yesterday so keen to give it a try. I might stick the front coilovers back on too so I can experiment with more camber.

Not quite a Jack Russell exhaust but probably the blingiest I've ever had.

Not Bluetooth, but I use this one which I picked up from ECP

Picked the Exige up. My word what a stupid racket 8-)

Giving it a proper run tomorrow so will be able to report back on performance, but some images of the wheels for the time being.

Definitely made the right decision. Really happy with how they’ve turned out.

Picked up my first dual action polisher, just a cheap guild one from Argos (£40) but appears to be the same as all the other cheap da out there just with a different colour / badge stuck on.

Amazed at how quickly and easily it removed a few scuff marks and light scratches with a little meguires ultimate compound, after years of doing everything by hand and convincing myself only wimps needed a machine

Interesting, not seen a polisher in that format, for that price before - think I paid slightly less for a Halfrauds job that was basically disposable.

Might have to investigate that...

I've had some other guild stuff, it's what Homebase used to do, and been happy with the quality / price. Plus two year guarantee and Argos are easy to take stuff back to unlike random internet sellers.

Finally nearing completion on the missus’s F31 320D gearbox issue (crunchy 2nd). It’s not been the easiest of processes, but they’ve ended up doing the synchro, new dual mass flywheel, plus other bits and pieces (plus a new clutch at our expense at a very reasonable sounding £202).

Including the diagnosis, the actual works, collection and delivery of the car, 2 weeks of hired brand new Insignia (which she hates), the bill is pushing £4K...

I suddenly think warranty companies are ok... 😮

Different day, different road, same mysterious test pilot and same shagged tyres. Consistent!

Cheers for the heads up I'll be getting one of those tomorrow. I used my brothers Katsu to do the postman pat van and it was epic, so easy with some decent compound i've been promising myself one for ages when they come up on offer. As I have a new wing for the van that needs a proper cutting back and polish it the ideal time.

I bought a smaller 5in backing pad and set of hex foam pads for cheap off amazon to add to it to get me started. Should make it easier to get into the curves and less likely to bog the machine down than the big pad supplied with it.

A set of small 3 inch pads are worth having too, my brother needed them for his s2k he said.
