Anyhoo,
Derry Girls - New series, still funny as fvck...
Took me about 10mins to tune my ears in! Especially to Jamie-Lee O'Donnell. I think the lad is a weak link now though - should've dropped him for this series imo.
Yep, enjoying that this is back on, and hoping to get the Mrs into it. She did laugh in a few places at least, so there's hope.
Free Solo - ooh, will watch this.
Still not started Season 3 of Man In The High Castle.

Yeah, the Fyre one was great. I mean, conceptually they had an amazing idea, all the right connections and knowledge to get if off the ground, but then...car crash.
Half way through watching this. Unbelievable! Bunch of fucking self-entitled millennials tossers.

Still, we all know that 'influencers' are literally the dregs of modern day society, so frankly this lot probably deserve it.

Derry Girls is great, I'm waiting a few more weeks to binge watch the new series though. Erin is a adorable.
The new Partridge show does feel too try hard. The funniest bits are the subtelties in it, but the show's just not believable.
Abducted in Plain Sight on Netflix is crazy.
Enjoyed Sex Education on Netflix.

I love the fact that Erin and her mum have exactly the same facial expressions.

Free Solo
Try
Meru - it's Jimmy Chin and Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyis earlier film. Same in close climbing feel but with more icey mountainous stuff.
Haven't watched much TV lately but really liked
The Umbrella Academy - short season based on a comic about an oddball crime fighting family.
Thanks for that. There look to be some rather large drops on that so I'm guaranteed to be shaking like shitting dog

I liked Umbrella Academy too but figured this was the wrong crowd so didn't mention it

Spotted last night that the new series of
White Gold is all available on iPlayer, so I've watched 2/3 of it already. I think it's better than the first series, which I enjoyed probably as much for the odd moments of humour as the cheesy 80s vibe.
Thanks for the heads-up. Despite watching S1, Netflix didn't tell me about new episodes.
I don't think season 2 is on Netflix yet - it's on BBC telly but they've put every episode on iPlayer all at once, which is nice.
Having said that, putting an entire series on iPlayer in one go means that it's done in a couple of days, not strung out over 6 weeks as they probably want.

Been keeping up with Star Trek Discovery but I’m not liking this season as much as the first.
I'm four episodes in and while I agree, I didn't really rate the early episodes of the first series either. I think there's some equally interesting plotlines developing (aside from the Tilly one... in general she's an awful character).

Free Solo was OK. He’s a bit...off, isn’t he?

I'm struggling with Partridge but can't quite put my finger on why. I don't think its helped by the fact that he's such a big part of the show - he's presenting in the studio and nearly every video segment - part of the surreal nature of The One Show is the variety of A to Z list stars, interspersed with utterly random video pieces on every subject under the sun. Maybe it would have worked better if it was like the series when he was staying in the travel tavern and you got to see him at work and outside of it.

I agree, it jumps the shark a little - particularly with the other guy from mid morning matters who just isn’t funny anyway. It’s almost put across as if the show was made by pear tree productions, rather than the bbc.

Binged Gervais's After Life last night and thought it was excellent. Funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking.

What the actual shit? Where do you start with flat earthers? That Netflix documentary was very entertaining, but the highlight for me was about halfway through when they start talking about the experiments. There's a bit of TV gold where they talk about what should happen with a gyroscope if the world is indeed round and is orbiting the sun. And of course, they buy this gyroscope and it does exactly what everybody knows will happen.
At which point it should be the end of argument, but of course it isn't.
The other thing they must be kicking themselves about is how cheap technology has meant even primary schools are now able to launch things up high enough in to near space and get footage of the goddamn round earth.

Flat Earthers are the product of a society that says 'all views and beliefs must be respected', when in fact you're not arguing from a point of view, but arguing from a point of fact. Utter cretins and they make a good case for forced sterilisation.

Round, yes
Spherical though?
I put to you, that most people are unable to know the earth is spherical. Most will never orbit the earth. Most don’t have means of conclusive experimentation. Most people have to trust, or put faith in scientists
So the real question isn’t “is the earth spherical” but rather, “what’s the point of lying to everyone about it”.
I can’t see there’s anything to gain from lying to us all about it. So it’s almost certainly spherical, but I don’t think I’ll ever know for sure

Leaving Neverland - anyone else seen this? It’s a two parter (2 x 90mins), and I’ve watched the first part
A warning - it’s extremely graphic
I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch it. I am (was?) a big MJ fan, a think like most people. And didn’t want the music and the mystique ruined. But, I thought it only fair to listen to these guys. I can’t say that I’ve enjoyed it, but it’s been interesting.
After only the first episode, I leave being pretty much convinced of their stories
I’m going to watch the second part this week
