I used to get some "strongly worded" messages from ExWife2 if I had dared to not leave her car in neutral. I shall not miss that part.

MOT due on the Elise this week so im dropping it off at the specialist today. Had a poke about it last week and the offside front ARB droplink seemed to have a smidge of play in. Had been getting a high speed knock at around 90 on track so i think thats the cause. Ordered one on Thursday for next day and fitted it. Nearside seems fine for the moment so ill keep the new one for a spare. Took around 40 mins to change which would have been around 30 had i bothered to clean up the threads on the bolts. The inner bolt rounded when the nut got to the end of the thread so the dremmel cutting disk saw a bit action.

In other news ive bought a set of Willans Harnesses and a harness bar for it so thats a project for the weekend.

Air con condenser has a hole in it. Quoted £200ish for an OE (Original Equipment) spec one or £96 for a cheaper make. Plus £170 to do the work.

Explains why my air con has not been effective! Will get some other prices and get that done later, but not this week.

Also serviced, excl. oil as that was done 1500 miles ago.

Condensor went on my R26. Was proper fucked. not expensive though i went for an aftermarket one and it did the job.

AC on the 3 series is needing regassed I think. It was struggling a bit on Friday when it was 27.5 degrees outside.

Even though it's over a year since I bought them he immediately said to send them back and they'll swap them for a road set. I explained I have a track day coming up next week, and he said to give them a try on track and after that decide if I want to change them. That's great customer service

I was meaning to drop you a line - do your Motons use monoball mounts, and if so, do the fronts have a roller bearing to allow the spring/strut to turn more easily ? My stock mounts do, but it seems coilovers don’t ?

Also, have you fitted your radio ?

The cheap eBay coilovers on my compact didn't, and one side the spherical bearing in the top mount was quite tight so used to get a lot of pinging and boinging on low speed / high lock manouvers.

A lot of more expensive coilovers have a roller bearing in the upper spring cup, although the ones on my hsds were a bit shite and gummed up and became ineffective pretty quickly.

Don't know that I've seen a solid topmounts that combines both within the mount.

Good point, I had the same coilovers on mine and didn't notice any problems. Maybe I'm overthinking it !

It was hitting 40C at night last year. Doesn't seem quite as bad this year but yep, too hot to do anything outside past say 9am. You can just about get away with it on the boat if you're moving quickly and getting the airflow but fk me do you feel it when you stop.

Yeah I have only been once in summer and remember moving on foot from office to restaurant - about 200m away - was ‘orrible. But I wasn’t sure if you just got used to it.....
