What about Liam Lawson?

I guess they didn't think he was an option?

I wish they made them even smaller but kept the wide tyres - 30kg weight saving disappointing after all the recent weight gain.

Don’t think Monaco will be any better.

No DRS. Maybe every track will be like Monaco 2024 😂

More pics

Weird that they got rid of the outwash wheel brows and gone back to the super sharp front wing end plates which cut tyres easily. Looks a bit like the mid 2000’s cars.

The most important question though: will they sound shit?

I was hoping for a better engine config.

Pretty similar to this year I expect. I think the engine is similar, but with more hybrid power.

Questions have been raised about whether F1 actually needs the hybrid element or should ditch it entirely and switch to sustainable fuels.

The F1 cars will sound quite a bit louder as there is no MGU-H. They’ll not sound any better as the rest of the engine is the same and if anything they will sound really odd as they’ll be acting as generators in the lower speed sections.
Technically the engines are shitter with less efficiency but just have a bigger electric motor on the crank which will produce more electricity for the bigger battery.
The reason the tyres are narrower with active aero and less downforce is because the hybrid power unit can’t overcome the drag of the current cars 😂
Honestly part of me is hoping they’re so rubbish we get on with the synthetic fuel and V10s.

There’s no long term future in ICE for the west, and the battery tech is still not good enough. Give us a decade of decent engines on synthetic fuel at least.

Hasn't Newey suggested that the engines might well be run flat out all lap as generators? Which will sound both weird and really shit.

Something like that. Just reading that not all the teams are happy. The active aerodynamics are not driver controlled and will be purely by software but the front wing especially will not fail in a safe position like the DRS so there’s concerns about that. Could be a hell of a crash if you go into Eau Rouge and your wings are in slippery straight line Vmax mode 😂

Animation of moveable aero. Looks like top elements of front and rear wings pivot now rather than DRS style letterboxes.
Can see the concern with the front wing because if it fails it would fail in a neutral low downforce position

Could be a close race. This season is starting to shape up nicely for close racing. Obviously Max will win the WDC, but he's going to have to really work for it. Impressive quali lap by him.

Sadly I won't have time to watch it. :(

Perez out in q3, both Ferraris out in q2. 1st and 2nd on identical times, on a dead second.

Sure max will win drivers, but I wouldn’t be so sure about RB getting the manufacturers. I guess unless Perez starts getting decent points their hope is there’s such a mix behind them no one team is going to hoover up all the spare points.

I think with so many teams suddenly catching up it helps Max out as they’re all taking points off each other.

Enjoying Villeneuve this weekend and I usually dislike him. Comes in, shit talks everyone but it’s all truthful 😂

Not beyond the realms of possibility the Lando could push Max for the championship ans even get it though? If Red Bell continues to struggle it only takes a couple of DNFs for Max and a couple more wins for Lando for them to be about even and let’s face it, when Max starts to struggle he makes a lot of mistakes.

Max is a lot more complete driver than he used to be IMO.

It's kind of hard to tell, as he's been so far out in front with a vastly superior car for 3 years! I suspect you're right though, he is the real deal and I don't expect his level of performance will drop as sharply as say Vettels did, once the floor blown diffuser era ended.

I'd love to see Max move to another team and have to go against another team mate who has won championships - I think then we'd get more of a picture of actually how good he is.

I reckon McLaren will be the team to beat next year, they seem to have the best understanding of the current regs and team stability. This year though I’m not sure, Max has been pretty flawless and mature, and he doesn’t need to fight his own teammate. I think he only needs to finish on the podium to secure the championship and all the circuits left are pretty solid tracks for him aside from Singapore.
