In all the performance cars I've owned over the years, I can barely think of any times someone's tried to 'race' me. Probably the last time was in the ITR, and that was 13 years ago.

Yet I seem to speak to plenty of people who think people are trying to race them frequently. Either I'm just completely oblivious to it, or I just drive like a old man and people don't bother.

Normal signs are either...

- Catch up to me at a roundabout, flash lights and then follow (or try to... ) on my bumper to the next roundabout

or

- Hang back when I indicate to move over to the fast lane, flash lights then blast it behind me as I accelerate away...

There are a lot of them about Milton Keynes as the whole city is basically a series of Drag Strips...

Yeah, there were three or four 'fast' Audis (two of which had popcorn maps) all driving around, so I think they were all having a 'bit of a laugh' anyway. They were driving a bit like pricks but it was, at least, quiet so I decided that I might as well join in for a bit

I never intentionally engage...

And Matty, it only ever happens in Milton Keynes. It invites it. Perhaps you cars have always cried ‘Fuck off pal, don’t even try it!!’

Been noticing that about 1/3 of my insurance quotes this year involve companies which have to fit a black box, and annoyingly its the cheaper third of them - could swear a few years ago it was only 2 or 3 quotes which were like that. At this rate they will all require a black box in 3 years time Also noticed quite a few cars now with a sticker saying something along the lines of "sorry this car is fitted with a black box" - so its definitely on the rise and not just for teenage drivers. What a load of shit!

Well, seeing as a well known forum member told me I "drive like a massive girl" it's probably more to do with that

First roll out with the Falcon in Spa-Francorchamps went well. Car feels solid and fast (2'58"411). A few minor adjustments (bigger tank, second pump) and it'll be ready for the Six Hours.

What surprised me most is the sheer grunt of the engine and the effortless way it pulls right through the rev range. It was always going to have more go than the little 4 cylinder Alfa, but I wasn't expecting to keep up with a 991 Turbo up Kemmel straight.

The front of the Boxster has been trouble ever since I bought it as it was always catching on my (admittedly quite steep) driveway when I went in / out.

Finally cracked my exit strategy by driving out sideways and am pleased as punch.

If I’m in the Boxster I seem to get a lot of small-engined 1’ers trying to keep up with me after leaving a roundabout on to a dual carriageway.

Anything with a Skoda badge too.

Not really racing but about the first time I drove mine with the roof down this yoof shouted at me from a yellow Golf "MATE YOUR LAMBORGHINI'S ALL BLOCKIN DA ROAD!"

I agree with the Milton Keynes racers - all I get is a lot of middle aged men in Passats/A4s/3-series who must be bored with life.

I have no idea what Skoda salesmen tell their customers, but they seem to think they're in a race with pretty much everything on the road. Whichever car I happen to be in, there's always one up my arse. #requote

It’s almost always a shit poverty spec car who wants to try and keep up or “race” from what I’ve seen. The evenly matched cars tag along at a sensible distance for a fun drive on B roads whereas the Skodas or 320dd will actually sit a foot off the rear bumper on the motorway, then you give it some and they drop back 300 metres, get pissed and undertake you as you slow down for the car ahead. So not only do they have short angry man syndrome they also suck at losing.
