I hope you keep a copy of The Sun and a packet of Embassy No.1 on the dashboard at all times.

If only his grandparents could have been deported that could have been avoided.

Come on, Rich - this is the best time of year to buy. In a month the sun will be coming out and prices will start to climb.

Me too. I see the thread bounce and think "has he....?" and three hundred and twenty four pages later I still remain disappointed.

what car thread - blue balls edition.
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Found it odd that he had a rev blipper. I'm pretty ham fisted in cars but even I found the Elise exceptionally easy to H&T and rev match.mik wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 10:16 am OK nobody loves Misha vids, but this one has relevance.
Similar spec to ScottA’s (except he had good tyres on).
Just seems odd to build a car to that spec and with track focus and want/use one. Maybe it's just me.
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
To save me watching the Misha vid, can anyone tell me the time stamp at which he crashes or has a near miss?

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I’m blaming this thread for the very weird dream I had last night - I’d bought an S3 Exige and then fitted an Audi R8 V8 TT engine. I then proceeded to floor it down a motorway slip and, despite breaking as hard as possible, still went through the speed camera at 120mph.. there were also 3 seats in this Exige

Cheers,
Ian

sounds awesome!
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Not sure I've ever seen a Sport 160 in this blue before, and doesn't appear to have the LSS either judging by the height? I know you could get a 160 (non 'S') without the wheels, seats and LSS, but this is just missing the latter. Maybe removed at some point for comfort or clearance?
Either way, liking this alot. Not sure I like it enough for £28k, however.

Ummmm yeeeeah, about that….Matty wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 12:58 pm Me too. I see the thread bounce and think "has he....?" and three hundred and twenty four pages later I still remain disappointed.

one very dirty Lotus half way through its epic 400 miles journey home!
i’ve just got in after a 7 hour drive back from Glasgow having flown up this morning, and feeling pretty fresh to be honest!
First impressions are really good - it’s a lumpy little fella and doesn’t enjoy traffic much, but its head and shoulders better than the cheap K20’d one i drove late last year. Pretty much all the issues i had with that one are fine on mine and it’s reaffirmed the desire for an Elise.
Power - it doesn’t feel any slower than that K20 - though i don’t know how healthy that one was and it was a bit off putting because it has such bad…
…NVH - obviously it’s an Elise so everything has some rattle to it, but revving it out, the engine/exhaust is what shines through rather than any horrid reverberating metal against metal/heatshields/etc sounds!
Suspension - it has nitrons and feels great - it’s very low, but doesn’t feel harsh at all - i’m impressed. it’s an interesting sensation over larger bumps, where you sit right in the middle of such a short wheelbase and it feels like the whole car pivots around you rather than bumps you (odd one to try and explain!)
Driving position - mine has a steering wheel boss that brings the wheel a little closer to me, and critically away from my knees to above my thighs. The other one just felt like everything (hands/knees/wheel) were all trying to occupy the same space.
Seats - really comfortable and i had no issues with them all day - i love the way they look and i even grew to quite like the harnesses (though i suspect i’ll go back to seatbelts (undecided).
Steering - the old “telepathic steering” is definitely true - it feels great - i also have two wheels to choose from, the slightly larger MOMO one on there feels perfect in my eyes.
Brakes - whilst non servo brakes take some getting used to, this ones brakes are very confidence inspiring once you know to tread on them hard!
Overall, i liked it from the second i got in (and stalled it!) - it’s a really nicely sorted car and whilst there are bits to fettle/fix, it feels solid and confidence inspiring! i’m happy!

The previous owner was a top guy too, he kept bringing out more stuff to throw in - factory hard top with cover, 2 car covers (full and shower one), CTEK charger, spare steering wheel, a bolt pack with every single bolt for the car, various other spares and tools…
i barely fitted in the car when it was time to head off!
Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Nearly 4 months to get one isn't too bad.
I remember telling my friend circa 1999 that I'll one day own an Elise. 26 years later and I still haven't owned one
Anyway, nice one on the purchase Rich, I look forward to hearing how you get on with it
