What's the theory behind them - that the oil offers some sort of additional vibration damping versus a rubber mount?

Just remembered that on some 911s you can spec active engine mounts can’t you? I presume it’s a mini suspension which can soften and harden and cost a small fortune to replace.

The offside engine mount on my old R53 MCS was oil-filled.
Failed at about 6 years old but like comfort module and thermostat housing was replaced free under goodwill

968 has oiled filled engine mounts. Certain liquids are good at providing hydraulic dampening, who'd have thought it?

A front pair of Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport fitted to the M140i today and they feel superb. Higher load rating (92Y instead of 88Y) for slightly stiffer sidewalls and they feel super grippy. Had a blast into the Dales when they'd been fitted to give them a little abuse and I am very happy with them. Just need to wait 2-4 weeks for the rears to be launched and then I can get those fitted too.

As Marv has commented, the fluid provides some damping. A rubber bush on its own is springy but doesn't have a lot of damping. Subaru is now with my guy having the stage 1 clutch, big turbo and exhaust fitted. While he’s there it’s having a pair of new seals on the driveshafts as they are weeping, new gearbox and diff oil plus oil and filter change too. Won’t be able to give it any boost on the way home as it will just go into limp mode with over boost. So it will be a very gentle drive home. Map day is Tuesday and it’s only a 10 minute drive there.

Having had a run from work on Leeds/Bradford border, to Scarborough tonight after work I can confirm the new suspension works very well at speed, damping is sublime, so well controlled and the spring rates are very well judged, it's like a different car.
Went long way round, up Garriby hill, 1 Hour 32 Minutes to do 78 Miles cross country isn't bad going at this time of day, but the downside is I have used 3/4's of a 70lt Tank of SUL

Trip to Anglesey and back, the Evora proving once again to be an exceptional GT car. Never missed a beat, whipping the rear seats out (held in by velco, no less) left loads of room for luggage, with the boot holding far more than I expected. No idea why you'd want a 2+0 when the 2+2 can carry both luggage or little people.
On top of this, I got almost 40mpg, forgot to record the singing 2Bular in the A55 tunnels, smashed some lovely B-Roads, and did the journey there and back without a sniff of fatigue. I will concede to wishing I could take the roof off....a targa Evora would be a glorious thing.

Track day at Pembrey yesterday, car when well but most importantly I got my groove back and was far far more confident with the Golf. Nothing like an open pit lane day to give you plenty of time to work up to the cars limits, especially on the faster corners.

Nice one Nic. I’ve never driven Pembrey so should try it at some point. Along with the ‘new’ Anglesey circuit.

Ah yes, we've discussed this before I think!
Anyway, picked up a hood cleaning kit from Halfrauds yesterday (went there to pick up ramps, completely forgot them), and intended to go to the jetwash to give the car a blow-over and get crap off it. Noticed the local Polish HandWash was open. So slipped in there.
They did a pretty good job for a fiver, honestly.
So just the roof to clean up.
