That’s kind of what I meant.

I wasn’t suggesting that he should have thrown out the ref because it got the wrong result. What would’ve been nice is if he’d had some control over the members of his own party who were lying to get what they wanted.

Anyway, no point going back over brexit.

There surely must be some politicians between these spineless wet wipes and the populist headbangers though.

It doesn't appear so unfortunately...

That they literally had to rush through a peerage for Cameron tells you exactly how desperate they are.

I've used the side of a hammer before in certain circumstances. But I imagine he probably hasn't used a hammer before.

Yeah, nothing says 'not a man of the people' than not knowing how to use a fucking hammer. Hasn't he even seen DIY SOS FFS?

"Is it more embarrassing if we show him using the hammer sideways, but less chance of him missing and smacking his fingers because he's never used a hammer before, or just letting him use the hammer normally and potentially smacking his fingers, showing he's never used a hammer before?"

I'll protect my electrician by not naming names but he regularly gets called up by a politician to reset tripped fuses...

I mean, he's probably getting £75-100 a pop (ha!) on call to do that, so fuck it, at least he's getting his moneys worth out of having an incompetent representative, unlike most of us.

Edit: Apparently the full clip shows he was asked to use the side of the hammer (something something a punch tool, damages it long term, etc); but the flipside of that is, does Sunaks PR team not remember the Milliband Bacon Sarnie?

It’s an accepted joiners way to use a hammer when using a wood chisel.

However I imagine he won’t know a wood chisel from a brick bolster so that’s pretty irrelevant

I don't actually think it's that bad an idea - It's obviously not as ballsy as just banning it, but it's one way to phase it out.

This new policy of increasing the minimum earnings for legal immigrants seems to be causing some consternation. I’m surprised it hasn’t been styled as only allowing immigrants in to be the bosses of U.K. citizens, but a chap from the Telegraph seems to be moaning that it bans mail-order brides 😂

Well Starmer appears to have nailed his colours to the mast.

I got some Labour bumf through the letterbox today in which he firmly states:

“The Labour Party presented to you in 2019 has been consigned to history”

It’s the smart play. They can't win with the socialist vote alone but you can pick up more centre and just right of centre than you lose by shifting to the center

He might actually pull this off

Blair back aswell? I mean, the Conservatives have brought back DC.

I hear Starmer recently stated he could learn a bit from Thatcher.. and that Powell wasn’t too bad imho ( I may have added the last)

Both parties are racing to the centre and trying to recruit centralist heavy hitters.. leaves space for Corbyn and Farage to scoop up the more “extreme” ( extreme compared to the two more centrist parties) but it also means the vote is heavily diluted.. which means that a far-left/right party could end up supporting the ruling party in a tight ballot..

The Lib Dem/Cons gov was brought more centrist by the minority LD, it’ll be interesting to see how a more “extreme” party influences politics esp in the age of fast and loose reporting.. ie sexy policy (with zero factual information) more likely to get passed into legislation than ever before. I’m not sure that anyone is keen for this to happen but it’s definitely a possibility.. I’d like to be sat back watching this from afar with a bag of popcorn 🍿 😎

Rishi has decided that all the problems are the fault of people with mental health problems. Thanks for that I guess.

This plan is not well thought through. As ever. If doctors no longer issue sick notes, that will not change HR law. So employees will basically be entitled to self-certify their sickness instead of getting a sick note. That sounds like a recipe for employment-related claims ahoy; a field day for the lawyers.
