That wing is in the EXTRA Full Wanker Position.

It’s quite similar to the shape of the Japanese super formula rear wing- I guess it’s intended to throw the turbulent air high over any following car and create a pocket of calm air for a car to follow closely in

Just had time to watch through Quali. Do Ferrari solely design a car for Monza and hope it does well around the rest of the calendar? Odd considering how much of a dog it has been recently. I'm happy as anyone that Max isn't on pole again however that really should have been a slam dunk penalty for Ferrari for their stupidly slow out laps.

Albon to punt max out of the race into turn 1

Statement as to why they didn’t get one
Both drivers stayed at or above speeds necessary to stay below 1:41.0 around the vast majority of the circuit and especially on the straights. However, in both cases, the Stewards determined that the drivers took appropriate actions to slow and stay to the side to the track so as to not impede other drivers, and in both cases, they did this significantly to allow four drivers to pass while giving those drivers a clear track. The Stewards, therefore, determine that they did not drive “unnecessarily slowly” and that evidently the reason they were both slightly above the maximum time was due to their appropriate actions and take no further action.
I think the real reason was riot control

They say there’s a curse at Monza, where if you win the following year you DNF. It’s happened to the last 3 winners so hopefully it’ll happen again and give us something worth watching

Fingers crossed for that curse then!
So Ferrari running new power units turned up to the maximum, that explains it then

Why they didn't get CL to chuck it up the inside of MV in turn one is a mystery to me. Best case MV yields and you have a rear gunner for CS, worst case he punts him off and Ferrari win the race with CS.

That was a great race to watch. Sadly the outcome was predictable, but the fighting was excellent.

Also surprised that some drivers who were stuck in an eternal DRS train didn’t just cut the turn one chicane and then stay in front and make up the 5 second penalty by just using their faster car pace.
Ferrari drivers were driving very poorly by the end, lucky to both finish.

Yep, was waiting for them to end up taking each other out.
Was also wondering how the ‘gaining an advantage’ thing was worked out. Go for a dive, shortcut the chicane on purpose, get ahead, blend out of the throttle just enough to let the car back through but tuck straight back into the slipstream for a pass at the next one.

Hmm so was the real Red Bull secret the flexi wings? Didn’t think the regulation change would affect them much as all teams make use of flexible bits!

Max will be starting at the back if they give penalties! Good.

Max has been given reprimands and nothing more. But ridiculous when tsunoda had to abandon a lap because of him

Good finish. Nice when Max isn't involved at the front.

Russell spent half the race moaning about Sainz being slow (actually a clever tyre preservation and tactical drive) then on new mediums he has no pace himself vs his team mate and bottles it again like in Canada

Mercedes should have won that.
Still better than a Red Bull winning.
Credit to Sainz, doing all the strategy himself and even using the DRS train to defend.

It looked like LH was quicker than GR on this fresh tyres, I wonder whether LH would have got past one or both LN and CS.
