What's funny is that the Trump campaign have to pay for the recount. Just accelerating his impending bankruptcy.

Crazy how close it is. Crazy in that so many Americans want him to lead the country after everything that has happened. Either he's doing something right and its not being reported over here, or he appeals to the many gun wielding, black hating, pussy grabbing God botherers who want America back to how it was in the 40's.

If you've found yourself able to put food on the table when you couldn't previosuly...

GA now flipped

Yep, now 900 or so up. He might even get Penn you know. I can see Trump only getting NC at this rate.

I know Trump raises a lot of emotions but if you try and look at the situation with a bit more equanimity, you'd take into account that, although the president personally wields more power than the PM in the UK, many would vote republican for the same reasons that people voted labour in the UK despite Corbyn leading it.

I'm sure many of his voters support the republicans for the stuff we just can't understand (e.g. the guns, position on abortion, radical Christianity, healthcare (though I'd asterisk that one with our own failings given how bad the NHS is)), but there is a lot I do understand from the perspective of concern regarding the Democrats position on critical race theory, lack of condemnation for riots tearing cities apart with democratic mayors supporting 'defunding' the police, their overall spending plans, etc.

I personally think the Democrats need to wise up to a lot of the stuff that really turns off Middle America (it should be perfectly possible to support racial equality and be appalled at police violence without wanting to see the whole country burn). As you are seeing now, the margin by which they are beating Trump, one of the most divisive humans on earth, suggests that we'll be seeing another one term president follow this one!

A lot of the people that vote republican in the south and midwest are very much the guns and god redneck stereotype. They would vote that way regardless of what is actually happening and even though it's counter to their interests sometimes.

Yes but what portion of 69,622,407 (at the latest count) do they represent?

A semi-genuine question as to how many you'd think fit in that bracket.

It's not hugely relevant with the way that the electoral college works as I'm sure you know. 700000 people in the midwest gives the same amount of votes as 1.2 million in Nevada.

And a lot of them aren't that stereotype - I have family in SC, with some die hard Reps and some die hard Dems but none fit that stereotype. None of that explains why Trump has more voters turning out for him than last time...If the Dems don't fundamentally change how they view and treat those living in the swing states then they'll only be in for 1 term.

I see that many states which are neck and neck could have been decided otherwise if a small bunch of people didn’t waste their vote for the libertarian party 😂
