Look forward to seeing more of the merc, but please don't gingerise the front end. Leave them for the poverty spec cars and scene kids ;)

So apparently some red light cameras are also speed cameras. Who knew?

Me

They're called something like 'speed on green' cameras or something.

Bit of a delay but engine is back in the Lupo, possibly picking it up today, more likely next week.

Merc was in the dealer today for a noise behind the glovebox area. I'd done some careful testing and isolation and was able to reproduce it every time by changing the airflow from the face vents to the floor (they were pleased with this because most people just rock up and say "there's a rattle" whereas I was able to tell them exactly where and how).

So, turns out the motor mechanism behind the left hand face vent is kaput. 3.5 hour job to swap it out apparently. Good job I've the extended warranty!

Next week then, given it's near 10pm now? :(

My W205 C class had the same issue not long after I got it. A dash out job.

Boom - that's the one.

Reading back I see even W203's had issues with motor mechanism arms breaking or coming off or something. Not a high point for Merc.

Looks that way! Golf was also in having a new lower temp fan switch, didn’t get a chance to pick that up either  will give them a call this morning and see if they’ll open for me to take one.

Are you going for a bit of a VW collection Nic or is it just that this car came up at the right price ?

Swapped the door-hinge mounted mirrors for some wing-top concave jobbies. The door ones kept getting smashed.

These are fucking useless really but I quite like the way they look and squinting across the bonnet to not see what's tailgating me makes me feel suitably detached from proceedings.

Not a collection really Dave, I only have the Golf and Lupo. Lupo, I’ve always wanted one, drove one when it was new out and really liked it and then browsing on eBay as you do found it cheap in the spec I would want, black, aircon, 6speed gearbox.

Bill is a bit heavier than I thought and I’ll update on that when I get the final amount but everything is now fully sorted.

8-)

Swapped the Fabia over to the white 14” Compomotives to see what they are like. Tyres are a right mix, I went with a matching pair of Kuhmo something 175/60s on the fronts and some random 185/55s on the back.
Left over crest; tightens.

As good as you remember, or not had a chance to really thrash it yet (understandable given the engine internal work I suppose)?
