No F1 thread?
Re: No F1 thread?
And the most exciting part of that race was ocon nearly running over a load of photographers
Re: No F1 thread?
Great that the rule change has stopped one team dominating and made the whole thing more exciting.
Re: No F1 thread?
Even better was the rule change for this year allowing outwash aero again so now it’s much harder for cars to follow each other again - thus negating the whole massive rule change from the previous year.

Re: No F1 thread?
Street circuits are not normally exciting races though, Baku is, at least, better than Monaco.
But yes, the race passed and I am struggling to think of any exciting sequences. Hamilton made a few decent overtakes and Stroll had a good start...

Re: No F1 thread?
Having watched them both, I can safely say I found the snooker finals far more engaging, exciting, and interesting than the F1 this weekend

Just watched Miami highlights. Not Stapp or Perez’s fault that the RB is so dominant, but it sure removes a large chunk of visual drama.
Would rather watch a Ginetta or Carrera Cup race any day of the week.

Or those Legend things that were supporting the BTCC yesterday, utterly bonkers! Seriously, you need to watch it if you haven’t already.mik wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 11:20 am Just watched Miami highlights. Didn’t see it - will take a look - they are always entertaining. Have seen them loads of times at Knockhill.Zonda_ wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 4:37 pm

Re: No F1 thread?
The river had burst its banks last night and if it keeps getting worse the F1 circus may not be able to make the drive down to Monaco!

Re: No F1 thread?
Monaco always used to be the only race that had its own cameras rather than f1 provided ones, so as long as the teams can get their shit out it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.Mito Man wrote: Wed May 17, 2023 1:17 pm The river had burst its banks last night and if it keeps getting worse the F1 circus may not be able to make the drive down to Monaco!
However cancelling Monaco is also a non issue because it’s shit.
Re: No F1 thread?
Yeah, was quite looking forward to this race as it was the first non shit track this year! Maybe Spain will be better now that they’ve binned the chicane…

That's bullshit with regard to safety, taken most of the metre of length out the front nose which teams actually struggle as it is to pass crash tests with. Making it that much shorter would surely fail.

Re: No F1 thread?
If you’ve lost nearly 200kg then it would stand half a chance of passing, less mass would mean less energy to absorb or deflectMito Man wrote: Fri May 19, 2023 2:04 pm That's bullshit with regard to safety, taken most of the metre of length out the front nose which teams actually struggle as it is to pass crash tests with. Re: No F1 thread?
The nose is much shorter than the 2003 cars because the powertrain and fuel tank are so much bigger. There’s no way it’s passing. And if you go back to narrow tyres and less bodywork/downforce you go back to crazy top speeds like when we had with the narrow tyre hybrids which were hitting 230 mph.
