When did it start getting busy? When I had my test last month I literally pulled my car over on the way home from work - booked it on the phone and drove to the test station. All within an hour.

Sweden hasn't done that well. The death rate stands at 574 death/million, with Italy on 589, USA on 591 and UK on 626.
And whilst they didn't "lockdown" the vulnerable were encouraged to keep socially distant. Many buggered off to their summer houses earlier than normal. The population is also spread pretty thin, moreso when many go to their summerhouses. And most of all I'd wager that your average Swede is a fvckton of a lot healthier than your average Brit.
We still don't really know what's going on over there in reality. Sage 2 or Alternative Sage has also done modelling to suggest that the likes of Germany's low death rate is unlikely to be down to lockdown/mask wearing/social distancing/superior healthcare etc, and could well be down to some other unknown variable including genetic predisposition.
ETA: That's not to say that I don't think the Swedish approach might have been more pragmatic though - protect the vulnerable and let the healthy carry on as normal just seems to make a lot more sense.

It'll be interesting to see how they go over the winter though. Maybe the death rate will stay static as ours increases.

We're gonna go grouse shooting for my son's first birthday. That way the whole family can come.
And apparently this grouse shooting exemption is why the regulations were only published at 30 minutes to midnight.

Spent most of the day on and off refreshing the site.
Got a slot at Bradford Uni, no idea where that is but fuck it, snapped it up.
No confirmation mail yet, or text, or anything. So I'm guessing in starting all that over again.
Oh, and the 60 odd slots are gone, obviously.

What pisses me off more about the 'rule of 6' is that it completely fails to identify that the number of different households is the issue, not the number of people. You could have 20+ ppl (from 20+ households) gathering for 'properly organised football' outside (where those ppl will get close and running around causing them to breathe heavily, cough etc, yet 6 people outside in a garden might not even be 2 complete households. And if 6 people is 6 different (incomplete) households then if each of those people are infected then they could go home and infect their whole households. 20+ people again.
It's a complete lack of joined up thinking.

When I needed a test a few weeks ago, I got one straight away and that’s on a Sunday, and got the result back the next day.

A few weeks ago everyone was getting it all sorted quickly and the system was working, it seems to have shat itself in the last couple of weeks however.
