Hit all sorts over the years, don't even flinch when a pigeon boinks off the screen now.

A blackbird claimed an m3 foglight blank, a hare claimed an actual m3 foglight, a pheasant broke the silver compacts bumper grille, a deer bounced off the lancias rear wheel and wandered off, probably with a bit of a headache.

A pheasant destroyed the lancias windscreen, another deer bounced off the rear door of the e36 the day after I picked it up, a pigeon claimed a wingmirror cover on the first compact.

Probably loads more little bits and pieces over the years and several close calls. Thankfully no big one.

I'd already avoided plenty on that trip, mostly rabbits, but also something like a vole, and a frog/toad (and that was on the 944/939 in the wet).

I'm not sure when or where it happened, it might have been at home but it was dark when I left so I probably wouldn't have noticed it.

A 1.4 petrol SE. It's got a few miles on it now (and 6-700 more than below)

It's got climate, cruise, leather, sport seats, panoramic roof, 4ew, and more options were available.
It's been plenty reliable and has never left me stranded, but I have to qualify that by adding that when the clutch went (at around 160k) it was parked at home, and when it sprung a water leak that sprayed over the cambelts it was in a workshop and went straight on a ramp. It had a new exhaust a couple of k back; the original was possibly repairable - the flexi joint had gone - but not by me, and a pattern part was cheap enough. The coil played up intermittently, a new one was ~£30. Service parts and most consumables are the same as a Polo or Fabia so are easily and cheaply sourced (even if I was disappointed I only got 97k out of a set of pads and discs, why couldn't they have gone to 100k?!).
The two main gripes I have are that you can't see the washer fluid bottle and there isn't a low level warning unless you have the Winter Pack fitted, or the larger dash display which came standard on the Sport, and that - on mine at least - you can't get a consistent dipstick reading to the point it's pointless having it. Sure enough you get a low oil level warning prominently on the dash, but that's not the way to look after things. I've ordered a dipstick and fittings for a Polo with the same engine (and in the same range of engine numbers) which will mean popping the bonnet off every time you want to check, but that's easy and well worth it to get a proper reading. There is another way to get a decent reading, and without removing the bonnet; if you have the DIS/large dash display you can have the screen replaced with a full colour one from later Audis, and with that more features are enabled including a virtual dipstick using the (already fitted) oil level sensor. I don't have DIS, so getting that with a colour screen fitted to my car is ~£1k.

It takes an age to take a pic as well. Most of the time when I tried getting a pic of Moocher she'd hear the shutter sound, think "nope" and walk away, and be gone before it took the pic
There is much that needs fixing in my life before a phone though

We were in Norfolk over the Easter weekend, I'm amazed there are any deer left with the amount of dead ones at the side of the road.

Truck is in with Nissan for a couple of days having the chassis protection done. I am then going to get rid of it and get something newer with less miles and with no Nissan badge on it, probably an L200 Barbarian.

Combo needed new brake shoes a couple of weeks ago. £25 and about an hour of my time to fit.

Subaru wise I have ordered an STi VF43 turbo, Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit, fitted a 255l/h Walbro pump and got the gearbox seals and sump plugs.
Once all the bits are here it's going in for the new clutch and gearbox seals so while it's in my guy can fit the rest of the Prodrive exhaust, the STi turbo and give it an oil change. Once fitted I'll book the remap session.

Due to no red panels being available I bought a full set of silver ones from a guy locally and swapped the lot over, doesn't actually look half bad:



It also cracked 100k during the week, apologies for not doing 100 mph and have 100degC coolant temps as well:

I put the interior of the Spazda back together too, the temp gauge on the Stack clocks wasn't reading anything so I changed the sensor for a new one and now it just reads 999 I need to measure the resistance but not sure if I can be arsed to mess about with it anymore as I can see the coolant temp from the ECU on the scangauge (top middle of the dash).

Tank to tank average for when I've done nothing but pootle around town (mostly down and up a big hill, along with lots of WOT slip road fun)?

Meanwhile I managed 22mpg out of a tank on mine - new record!

To be fair, Leeds to London, pootling around central London, then back up, was 27mpg so it's not all bad.

You say that, but the lonely gauge in the top right of the centre console section would do my nut. Needs another in the top left, for balance. Anything - barometer, compass, distance to the nearest Greggs....
