Slightly OT, but interesting to see the Autocar review about how the Evora has 'evolved' into a far more hardcore car (referencing the GT410, but I get the impression the 400 is alot stiffer/firmer all round too). The S1 is now the "connoisseurs choice" apparently 8-)

Don't suppose you've driven a 400?

Changed front brakes & discs on focus, straight forward bar the need for mallet to get disc off. Had a go on backs and not so much. Picked up wrong bolt when trying to take carrier off

Any ideas what this bolt is for? It’s a torx and Ive lunched it a little.

Tank guard removed from under the Fabia. Probably about 15kg so that'll make me about 0.005s faster.

Can’t get the Mazda out to wash it and take photos for sale; it is blocked in by an immobile Range Rover LSE. Not mine. Don’t think I’ll be getting anything but Japanese 😄

On the way home from a the shops and overtake a car coming off a roundabout. I was accelerating from 40ish and a Boxster S did the same and made a big issue of sitting right up behind me and shaking his head. The kids like to “go 100 fast” so I felt they should get what they want.

So I pressed the sport button (faster shifts, need all the help I can get) pulled in and as soon as he started to nudge past when I was only halfway pulled in i floored it. I highly suspect it wasn’t a real S as he was creeping past by 120 and my youngest was blowing him a raspberry as the wife looked at me wondering how she got it so wrong in life. I really must remove some silencing though as I couldn’t really hear mine over his.

It’s all fun and games :D

I spent 5 hours in the car with the OH over the weekend on a mixture of roads including a fair few miles on smaller A roads.

I can kind of appreciate the though process but ever since having sprog she's gone from feeling relaxed with me driving fast (enough even to fall asleep in the Boxster at 140mph on the autobahn) to screaming "we're all going to DIE!!!11!1!" every time I overtake something. Gets very tedious.

Changing insurer on the Caterham from next month to get the missus driving it. Need a West Midlands skid pan to book her some time on, but there doesn't appear to be one :x

Agh, I remember my old man collecting a deer in his old Rover 200. Pretty much every panel at the front of the car, and the radiator, needed replacing - and he was just tootling along after a long backshift.

Got any quotes on repair, or is it proper fucked?

Fookit, I've just remembered I had to pay the Dart Charge for the return crossing. Arse. Hmm, hopefully the 14 days grace that was given to first time non payers still applies.

Looks like you might have got off easy with that one. Mind you, it is rather better put together than a Rover.

I was definitely fortunate, even though there's a bit more than is easily visible, and doubtless more than that when I start taking bits off. I'm sure the A2's bluff front helped, the higher bonnet line preventing the deer going over the top and into the windscreen. It got me the 450 miles home without problem and the ac working. It was odd, there was no blood, and the deer looked unharmed at the side of the road, no visible sign of impact. I think its neck broke on impact, in a way I hope so so it didn't suffer. By far the worst part of it was making eye contact just before impact and sharing a
