Thanks guys, hope you're all okay too 🙌

It was something that dug up where I was a few years back, these days I'm largely in a strong, stable and resilient place which is cool. But going back there really brought a few things back. Anyway, it seems to have helped people which is all I wanted.

And it was easily the hardest video I've ever posted, really didn't want it to go up, but once I'd filmed it, there was no point doing anything else.

Fair bloody play to you for posting. Even though mental health is better understood and accepted these days, it still feels like a pretty taboo/awkward/embarrassing topic to actively admit and discuss.

Modern life has brought new challenges with it and I think a lot of people are struggling a lot more than they'd like to admit.

All the best, Gavster! Talking does definitely help and this place is a good outlet.

See how many people tell you to talk about it, then when you do they scurry away and you don’t hear from them for ages.

Thankfully my friendship group has previously been reasonably open and supportive, but our friend passing (the one mentioned in not getting old thread) has really hit us all, his funeral was on Monday which was rough- but it’s properly started a conversation and opened everyone up to talking

If people run away when we open up it’s either because they’re not ready for those types of conversations themselves and can’t handle it, or because they don’t have the capacity for it. I had a friend years ago who was often suicidal and I really struggled to deal with that when I picked up the phone or met them, because it went on for years. In fact, I could have inadvertently done more harm than good if I handled such a serious situation badly. I was there for him as much as I could be, and at the same time, we all have our own limits too.

Should explain my point a bit better, because you’ve highlighted something I hadn’t considered, however I was talking about another kind of people

I’ve got family members who are the type of people who jump on any popular bandwagon and preach it to everyone, but when asked to put that talk into practice they run and hide. They’re all show about everything and to them talking about mental health is the latest bandwagon to preach about but god forbid anyone talk to them about it. Basically they’re cunts of the highest order, and it’s all from a place of vanity rather than a place of caring.
